lmfao

message 2: by Anthony (new)

Anthony I never thought about this... Never done it either... I am both enlightened and grossed out.

Cari L. Pedstelak Mild ick factor to the question itself, but worse yet is the reason for my answer. The officials of city I live in failed to fill out & submit the proper paperwork on time to retain funding, so we no longer even have a public library. Witty.

Trudy Never thought about this! Such a disgusting thought.

Nicole ummm how about.. NO

message 6: by Beth (new)

Beth I read in the tub.. don't think there is any ick factor involved... not like it gets propped up on the toilet while I read...

Rachel Swarm! Swarm!

message 8: by Urania (new)

Urania Dude, who has time to read in the bathroom? If it's taking you that long, you're doing it wrong! Plus, it's just gross.

message 9: by Lily (new)

Lily Urania - in the bathtub!!

message 10: by Urania (new)

Urania Lily - well, all right, that's less gross, but I'd still never risk the water damage.

Jan What is wrong with a hot soak in the tub and a book. Nothing, it is relaxing and one way to read with out the kids bothering you while trying to read just one paragraph.

message 12: by Evelina (new)

Evelina I really don't understand how people (ahem.. MEN) read on the toilet.
Go in, do what you need to do, leave. No time for reading! (or soaking up your own stench)

Katelyn it's not like i read them or anything while i'm in the bathroom, i set them by the sink!

so true!

message 15: by Kelly (new)

Kelly I shouldn't but I sometimes take them into the tub. I've never hurt one that way.

message 16: by Rachel Adiyah (new)

Rachel Adiyah This is really disgusting. It's bad enough that anyone would do this with a book they own, but when it's a library book, it's ten times as disgusting. Library books are NOT YOURS; library books belong to a library system catering to the people of a certain location, with the books being purchased partially with tax money, and are meant to be used with respect and care so that everyone can have a chance to read them. When a person violates that trust, they should have their library card revoked. Is everyone so extremely selfish that they don't think of others when they take out books from a public institution? If you want to abuse your books, AT LEAST BUY THEM NEXT TIME!

F. P. Omigod--no!! How gross. I never even thought people might be doing that, though I know people could still have dirty hands when handling the books.

I read fast, and for many years, I would read so much, I'd exhaust all the books I wanted to read in my local libraries. I haven't been there in a few years, had been thinking of going again. But the bathroom topic coming up in this poll makes me not want to read library books lol, though I'm very glad that this poll has given me a heads-up. If I go back, I'll be even more careful. I've seen unknown stains on and in library books so many times...yikes....

FWIW, I avoid taking anything into the bathroom that doesn't belong in the bathroom and doesn't get stored only in the bathroom. I worry about bacteria, including in the air from flushing, and I worry about making the bathroom unsanitary to use. I'm not a total germaphobe (some exposure keeps the immune system oiled), but, uh, I do clearly lean in that direction and use less-toxic natural disinfectants quite often where necessary, including on new books.
