My response only applies to books I own. I would never dog-ear a library book, or a book I've borrowed from a friend.

I dog ear many of my own if I don't have a bookmark nearby, but I would never do that to a book that isn't mine.
I think I need to invest in more bookmarks ;)

It kind of depends on whose book it is...if it's mine and it's a paperback: dog ear. If it's a hardcover, I use the cover flap. If it's a library book or someone else's, I use a bookmark. But bookmarks are usually receipts. Actually, the best bookmark is the little slip they print out from the library that says when it is due! :)

This is not to say that I don't owe like $20 at the library right now for overdue books...

I'll use a "bookmark" (anything handy at the time - but if nothing is available and I'll be coming back to the book SOON, I just note the page.

I usually just remember the page number!

i like finding out which page i was on each time i pick up the same book. :)
