Timelord Iain I say skip to the 2nd Riftwar trilogy, Daughter of the Empire and sequels… I read about a dozen Riftwar books and those were the only 5 stars, and the only ones I raved about… I blame the collaboration with Janny Wurts for the awesomeness…

Timelord Iain I understand... but honestly, the 2nd trilogy is only tangentially connected to the series, really... most of the other trilogies I read all connected to the characters from the first trilogy, or their children... this 2nd trilogy focused on the 2nd world, political intrigue, and new characters...

Kinda reminded me of The Shadow Queen & Shalador's Lady... a standalone duology, in the middle of the Black Jewels series...
