Trevor Mod
"The Debutante" is another that I haven't had a chance to read yet. I can't see myself voting for it over "A Tree of Night," though. I love Capote's short stories so much more than I love his longer work, and I think this one is quietly buzzing.

Ang Hmm, vote currently tied 2 to 2 so perhaps you should read The Debutante, Trevor! :)

Sam I like Southern Gothic so Capote gets my vote..

Ctb First, shrimp and avocado in 2 consecutive rounds. Now, hyenas.

Another, Yes, to Southern Gothic, although Other Voices, Other Rooms was a disappointment. It begins so auspiciously eerily and foreboding, worrisome for the boy, but the remainder hovers rather than rollercoastering.

For fans of Southern Gothic, The Beguiled from 1971 starring Clint Eastwood is riveting. I'm hardly an Eastwood fan, except for this movie; he is captivating, as is the entire story. Don't read reviews. Terrible spoiler.
