Already planning for 2018!

Which of these series should I reread/complete, first, in the new year?

(I have not completed any of these series, but have read a minimum of 5 books in each of the series).

Cee I read the Sookie Stackhouse series this year, wasn't too happy with the ending.... 2018 I'll be reading The Hollows series!
I'm with you thinking about next year already :)

It seems many were disappointed by the ending.

I paused at book nine when it was announced that the series would end with book thirteen.

Cee After book nine I thought things and the writing went downhill tbh :/

Still think it is worth finishing, but I'd say check the books out from the library before committing. Especially After Dead.

I already own them all, just haven't read the rest of them. I also own all of the Hollows series books and 12 or 13 of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

Nyssa I don't have any of the Stackhouse short stories, though.

Cee Oh, they just came out in an anthology (I think is what it is called), if you didn't know. That should make it easier to read them :) There are a few good ones.

Thanks. :) I've seen this one: A Touch of Dead, is there another?

To answer your question:* (emphasis mine): An anthology is usually a collection of stories by various authors, whereas a collection of stories by the same author is often just a collection (short stories) or an omnibus (larger works).

Cee Collection, thank you :)

The one I'm talking about is which The Complete Sookie Stackhouse Stories does official comes out on the 21st of this month. I thought it came out already.

You are very welcomed. I had the same question a few years ago. :)

Oh! Cool. Thank you! So now the completist in me is wondering if I should wait until it comes out in paperback so that it can match the rest of the books on the shelf.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* I'd say the Dead Witch Walking. I used to read BDB and it got old and repetitive fast for me. I stopped after some of the wives were gunned down - no clue which book - I was over it.

Haven't looked at Sookie but I have a couple of the Witch books - that I haven't read, either. LOL!

Nyssa The “gunning down” in BDB sounds vaguely familiar, but I am not sure. I do remember something happens to the clinic.

The Stackhouse series is the only one that I’m actually worried about not enjoying. I don’t remember enjoying book nine very much, or at least not as much as I enjoyed the first eight books, plus people were so unhappy with the ending. People also seem to be particularly dissatisfied with the conclusion of True Blood as well. I stopped watching the show around season four ( I think) when we let the pay channels go, and then eventually let satellite go altogether.
Edited for correction and clarification.

Nyssa So, husband says The Hollows, and daughter says Sookie. Her twin brother agrees with dad and also chose The Hollows.

Stephanie I still have one or two books left of Sookie, so I vote for that. Haven't started Dead Witch Walking yet. :) Don't know the Dark Lover series. :)

Nyssa Think strong, flawed, sexy vampires, the women who love them, and the beings who want to destroy them. :)

Oh, and thank you for voting!

Eldest child voted for Sookie. So even my family is divided: Two say Sookie and two say The Hollows.

A.J. The only series I've read of these is Dead Until Dark so that's what I voted for. The first book was great, the next few pretty good. I think the series peters out a little after a point though, but I'd say if you enjoy through the fifth or sixth book then you'll enjoy all the rest too. I honestly don't remember details of the individual later books but I did enjoy them enough to finish them all and good luck whichever series you choose.

PS - I watched the entire HBO series too. Things start becoming pretty crazy once they focus on the vampire authority which I think was around season five but I still enjoyed the whole show and the finale. I did prefer the first four seasons though, which each focused on a particular supernatural theme rather than the more scattered later ones.

Nyssa Thank you. :)

Nyssa Thank you to everyone who has participated so far, I appreciate your input.
The poll will be closing in a week.

Tessa in Mid-Michigan I don’t plan to read these, except Dead Witch. I would instead recommend finishing Ilona Andrews Innkeeper series, which is great fun. These are outside my parameters, being too violent or too graphic sexually. My opinion of course...

The Innkeeper series is on my list as well! :)

I started all 3 of these years ago, so I want to get at least one of them read all the way through (or up to date). I don't know if the Black Dagger series has been completed or not. I know J.R. Ward has started a spin-off though.
