Just remembered a third book in the poll also has another title! Sorry, this slipped my mind. The Sittaford Mystery by Agatha Christie is aka Murder at Hazelmoor.

I hate it when publishers change the titles of books! I know that this is a long-standing practice in the U.S. but it still irks me.

And I can't count the number of times I came home with library books which it turned out to be the same book as I already owned under a different title!

Because libraries that buy from US and UK library supply vendors get caught out the same way. Often the titles are different in US to UK because there will be some word/phrase that may not be understood or could be offensive. But knowing that doesn't stop the duplication. We used to add an alternate title on the catalogue record (breaking the rules of course), and add a note saying 'originally published as ...' to try and help our patrons.
