I totally got confused with the polls - just to be clear - no interest or effort in manipulating poll voting (notwithstanding the fact that, in another GR group, we've been known to joke about poll manipulation possibiities from time to time.

It is alright. I had a lot of trouble making the poll. I made one on a Friday but I couldn't find it. So I waited until Saturday to search for it again and still couldn't find it. Then I made another poll. Guess what, the day or so after that was done, the original poll showed up.

I hope I didn't goof things up for August. I only got hold of a copy of In a Lonely Place after the voting was over. I read the opening chapter and discovered the kind of book it is. So, while I found it interesting that a woman was the author, and that she was commended for the point of view from which she wrote and for her writing skill in that genre, I choose not to read the rest of the book. I'm sorry, but it just turns me off.
