Zaz If you're answer isn't in the poll, you can add it with the box at the bottom ("Young Adult" isn't allowed).

°~Amy~° Great list of sub-genres. There were only 6 on the list that I haven't read in the past 2 years and two of those I will have read by the time I finish with the Popsugar challenge. It's interesting to see how wide a variety of books I have been reading is thanks to challenges. :-)

message 3: by Zaz (new)

Zaz For next year, I'll try to add some alternate history in my list, if it's well done, I think it could be very interesting. I'll also continue with Magical realism which I loved in 2015 and 2016 :)

message 4: by Aglaea (new)

Aglaea Another alternater here. I enjoy learning more about genres, genre definitions, literary analysis etc. here, and this alternate history has popped into my consciousness more than once this year thanks to all my challenges.

message 5: by Jody (new)

Jody It will by myth for me, due to the challenge prompt.

message 6: by Francesca (new)

Francesca I don't read as much poetry as I would like to so I'm planning to try and fit a book of poetry in somewhere next year. Even if it ends up being a side read.

message 7: by Francesca (new)

Francesca Most of these I wouldn't consider as myself exploring as I read most of them anyway. Romance could almost count but I've been reading more of that this year already anyway.

message 8: by Marta (new)

Marta I went with steampunk because I read everything else, except for horror and romance, which I just don't want to read.

message 9: by Meghan (new)

Meghan Mildenberger What would be some examples of "Alternste history"? This genre is totally new to me (not surprising, I'm very unlikely to stray from my "box" of comfortable genres...)

message 10: by Katie (new)

Katie Yeah, I also want alternate history recommendations. And magical realism (looking at you Zaz, since you mentioned it).

Sophie Marta wrote: "I went with steampunk because I read everything else, except for horror and romance, which I just don't want to read."

Same here!

Although I'd love to read more alternate history, this genre always fascinated me.

message 12: by Zaz (new)

Zaz For alternate history, I've Underground Airlines on my TBR (I've only read this author once and loved the book, so I'll see if the level is similar).

For magical realism, I really liked The Snow Child & The Night Circus :)

message 13: by Jody (new)

Jody Fatherland is always mentioned as a great alternative history. I'm yet to read it but I have been meaning to for a while.

message 14: by Marina (new)

Marina I voted for Myth. The genre has caught my attention since it was suggested in the challenge, but there are severeal other genres I'm interested in and would like to explore some more. I'm considering a genre challenge for 2017.

message 15: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Space opera, I think. I've got a budding interest but I don't see squeezing anything in this year.

message 16: by Pouneh (new)

Pouneh I went with Steampunk because that is the only genre I have yet to dive in. But I think that I will have read at least one book of that genre by the end of the year, so... oh well, maybe next year will emerge another genre or I will stumble over a genre I never heard of until now...

message 17: by Jill (new)

Jill I've gone with Steampunk as it seems I have a few books that I hadn't realised were .
