I wish the newsletter would stop telling me what is on my currently reading list.

Cozy mysteries! I am not a fan of thrillers but love cozy mysteries. That should be a seperate catagory.
Like others who commented, I would like to see listed more foreign fiction that has great reviews and particularly English fiction .
I love historical fiction and most of my books are just that. I like a good story where I actually learn something.
More oldies but goodies, especially books that you'd probably never ever hear of or read. I recently read a 5 book series called the Cazalet Chronicles, by Elizabeth Jane Howard that I read voraciously, one book after another. Another treasured old book is Christina Stead's "The Man Who Loved Children" about a dysfunctional family's dynamics. "Mission", by Patrick Tilley, a truly bizarre science fictiony-type read which really blew my mind.
I'm with Roy and Susan, but I'd also love to see LESS ROMANCE! So much of the fiction and historical fiction represented is glorified romance. (Not that there's anything wrong with romance, but sometimes I would really rather just see a plain old book with a nice confusingly murderous/historical plot and much less snogging under the bougainvillaea.)
I don't have time to update what I'm reading or other stuff in the newsletter. I couldn't care less what friends are reading. All I need is lists and/or reviews of books in various categories so I can decide what next to read.
Rather than one big monthly newsletter, I wish there were more genre specific newsletters and subscribers could pick which ones they want to receive. For instance, there could be a monthly mystery & thriller newsletter, a science fiction & fantasy newsletter, and a romance newsletter, to name a few. By having newsletters that focused on a specific genre each could dive a little more deeply into each genre. For example, a mystery & thriller could include cozy mysteries, spy thrillers, as well as more modern, gritty stories. A romance letter could include Christian romance, erotica, romantic comedies, and more. In all cases the newsletters could include titles from around the world, so as to capture foreign titles (however that may be defined to individual readers) and titles in translation. Some newsletters would probably still be pretty broad, like the young adult newsletter that already exists. An indie or self-published newsletter would similarly be broad, but that would be fine.

Since the NY Times no longer publishes even amonthly best seller list, it is hard to keep up with new releases.
Lisa wrote: "Since the NY Times no longer publishes even amonthly best seller list, it is hard to keep up with new releases."A section on new releases would be wonderful. Also, books newly released in paperback.
I wish the newsletter had more paranormal romance and other paranormal genres, romantic comedies and dystopia books. It would be nice if it was a weekly or bi-weekly newsletter to keep up with everything new. I'm an everyday avid reader due to having an injury that keeps me from working, so I go thru the books. This newsletter gives me new ideas for books to read, some that I would have never known about. It would also be nice if you could list the price of the books that you feature in each newsletter.

I would really appreciate a review from Good Reads of my literary novel Muse On Madison. I will happily supply a copy to anyone interested. a number of reviews appear on Amazon.com and B&N but one from Good Reads will add merit and readership.
I'd love to see books that are like those of Perry Mason, Sam Spade, Nick and Nora, Mike Hammer, and Philip Marlowe.
I wish the newsletter might feature more Goodreads Authors that are not published by the tradtional publishing houses.
A lot of these - I thought Goodreads was going to release more genre specific newsletters? They just now released Romance in February since waiting over a year, with the others not in sight.
Linene wrote: "I would love to see the "dystopian" or "post apocalyptic" genre out here."Yes! One of my favorite genres also!
More European Historical Fiction with a good thread of clean romance, and/or books with past-present threads. More books like what Susanna Kearsley writes.
I chose fantasy because it was the closest broad category that fit. What I'm really looking for is Urban Fantasy. This is my favorite category and finding new Urban Fantasy can be difficult.
There is no category for inspirational fiction or Christian fiction. I would love to see a category for that since I write in that genre and love to read it. I would also like to see a category called Middle Grade books since I taught middle grade for 29 years and read everything they were reading. they really do not fit the category of Children's books any more once they get past 4th grade. They need their own category. Thanks!
Audio books. I've always loved to read. My life is so busy that listening to books while driving is the only way i get to enjoy them these days.
