message 6: by Susan (new)

Susan I agree Joan. Like the relevance and recognition when I read.

message 7: by Angie (new)

Angie Walters Cozy mysteries! I am not a fan of thrillers but love cozy mysteries. That should be a seperate catagory.

message 8: by Susan (new)

Susan Totally agree Angie.

message 9: by Linene (new)

Linene I would love to see the "dystopian" or "post apocalyptic" genre out here.

Roy Rutledge More Military, British MI5, US CIA, Special Forces.

message 11: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn More info on giveaway reviews

message 12: by Mary (new)

message 16: by Bob (last edited Apr 08, 2015 08:27AM) (new)

Bob more truth , love

message 17: by Mary (new)

Mary I love historical fiction and most of my books are just that. I like a good story where I actually learn something.

message 18: by Tuffy (new)

Tuffy Clark Romantic Comedies!!!!!

message 19: by A.H. (new)

A.H. Edelman I wish GoodReads had included an "indie" or "self-pubbed" category!

message 20: by Susan (new)

Susan More oldies but goodies, especially books that you'd probably never ever hear of or read. I recently read a 5 book series called the Cazalet Chronicles, by Elizabeth Jane Howard that I read voraciously, one book after another. Another treasured old book is Christina Stead's "The Man Who Loved Children" about a dysfunctional family's dynamics. "Mission", by Patrick Tilley, a truly bizarre science fictiony-type read which really blew my mind.

message 21: by Alison (new)

Alison I'd also like to see books on art. We clearly need more categories!

message 22: by Emily Grace (new)

Emily Grace I'm with Roy and Susan, but I'd also love to see LESS ROMANCE! So much of the fiction and historical fiction represented is glorified romance. (Not that there's anything wrong with romance, but sometimes I would really rather just see a plain old book with a nice confusingly murderous/historical plot and much less snogging under the bougainvillaea.)

message 23: by Artfox (new)

Artfox I don't have time to update what I'm reading or other stuff in the newsletter. I couldn't care less what friends are reading. All I need is lists and/or reviews of books in various categories so I can decide what next to read.

message 24: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne women's fiction

message 25: by Tiffani (new)

Tiffani Rather than one big monthly newsletter, I wish there were more genre specific newsletters and subscribers could pick which ones they want to receive. For instance, there could be a monthly mystery & thriller newsletter, a science fiction & fantasy newsletter, and a romance newsletter, to name a few. By having newsletters that focused on a specific genre each could dive a little more deeply into each genre. For example, a mystery & thriller could include cozy mysteries, spy thrillers, as well as more modern, gritty stories. A romance letter could include Christian romance, erotica, romantic comedies, and more. In all cases the newsletters could include titles from around the world, so as to capture foreign titles (however that may be defined to individual readers) and titles in translation.

Some newsletters would probably still be pretty broad, like the young adult newsletter that already exists. An indie or self-published newsletter would similarly be broad, but that would be fine.

message 26: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Mary wrote: "I love historical fiction and most of my books are just that. I like a good story where I actually learn something."

Completely in agreement!

message 27: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Since the NY Times no longer publishes even amonthly best seller list, it is hard to keep up with new releases.

message 28: by Tiffani (new)

Tiffani Lisa wrote: "Since the NY Times no longer publishes even amonthly best seller list, it is hard to keep up with new releases."

A section on new releases would be wonderful. Also, books newly released in paperback.

message 29: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Wilder I wish the newsletter had more paranormal romance and other paranormal genres, romantic comedies and dystopia books. It would be nice if it was a weekly or bi-weekly newsletter to keep up with everything new. I'm an everyday avid reader due to having an injury that keeps me from working, so I go thru the books. This newsletter gives me new ideas for books to read, some that I would have never known about. It would also be nice if you could list the price of the books that you feature in each newsletter.

message 30: by Syllyb (new)

Syllyb Angie wrote: "Cozy mysteries! I am not a fan of thrillers but love cozy mysteries. That should be a seperate catagory."
I totally agree with Angie!

message 31: by Linda (new)

Linda Scandinavian crime novels

message 32: by Stephen (new)

Stephen Novik More Canadiana! S'il vous plait, eh?

message 33: by Bunny (new)

Bunny Shulman I would really appreciate a review from Good Reads of my literary novel Muse On Madison. I will happily supply a copy to anyone interested. a number of reviews appear on Amazon.com and B&N but one from Good Reads will add merit and readership.

message 34: by Marion (new)

Marion Historical mysteries, children's books and definitely Scandinavian mystery authors

message 35: by Olga (new)

Olga I'd love to see books that are like those of Perry Mason, Sam Spade, Nick and Nora, Mike Hammer, and Philip Marlowe.

message 36: by E.A. (new)

E.A. Bucchianeri I wish the newsletter might feature more Goodreads Authors that are not published by the tradtional publishing houses.

Montessahall Montessahall I love Goodreads "just the way you are" Don't change a thing!

message 38: by Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (last edited Apr 08, 2015 01:47PM) (new)

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* A lot of these - I thought Goodreads was going to release more genre specific newsletters? They just now released Romance in February since waiting over a year, with the others not in sight.

message 39: by Lynn (new)

Lynn Linene wrote: "I would love to see the "dystopian" or "post apocalyptic" genre out here."

Yes! One of my favorite genres also!

message 40: by Jacqueline (new)

Jacqueline More European Historical Fiction with a good thread of clean romance, and/or books with past-present threads. More books like what Susanna Kearsley writes.

message 41: by Syllyb (new)

Syllyb More cozy mysteries. I'd love to see them in a separate category.

message 42: by Sue (new)

Sue Susan wrote: "I love good old fashioned "who-dunnits"!!!"

me too!!

message 43: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Braswell More Cozy Mysteries please!

message 44: by Dorrie (new)

Dorrie Baker I chose fantasy because it was the closest broad category that fit. What I'm really looking for is Urban Fantasy. This is my favorite category and finding new Urban Fantasy can be difficult.

message 45: by Mary (new)

Mary Wilkinson There is no category for inspirational fiction or Christian fiction. I would love to see a category for that since I write in that genre and love to read it. I would also like to see a category called Middle Grade books since I taught middle grade for 29 years and read everything they were reading. they really do not fit the category of Children's books any more once they get past 4th grade. They need their own category. Thanks!

message 46: by Preet (new)

Preet Don wrote: "And more foreign fiction."

I second this.

message 47: by Pamela (new)

Pamela Audio books. I've always loved to read. My life is so busy that listening to books while driving is the only way i get to enjoy them these days.

message 48: by Sue (new)

Sue Williams Bunny wrote: "I would really appreciate a review from Good Reads of my literary novel Muse On Madison. I will happily supply a copy to anyone interested. a number of reviews appear on Amazon.com and B&N but one ..."

I would love a copy of your book. I am a bit behind on my reviews but it will get done.
