Many places.Amazon, a lot, but I also get a catalog from the E. Howard Hamilton bookseller. And the second hand shop.
If I'm actually spending money on a book, it's almost always on Amazon or Audible. But I get most of my books from the local library or from the New Jersey State Library Talking Book and Braille Center, which are mailed to me. I can't get enough books. :)
Buying new books is a luxury I really can't afford, I'm always scouring the markets, charity shops and second hand bookshops. If there is something I really want and I can't find it elsewhere, then I'll get it from Amazon or ebay. I think i've only bought one new book in the past decade, and that was Frankie Manning: Ambassador of Lindy Hop because I couldn't find it anywhere, and the library didn't even have a copy.Unfortunately this poll didn't even have the option available for second hand shops.

I get most of mine from thrift stores and used book stores. Sometimes I buy a title from Target if it's got that 20% off sticker, and something that I really want. I almost never order books online if I can help it.
I rarely buy books, since we have a fairly good library system, but when I do, it is generally through Amazon.
I read almost entirely on my Kindle or tablet so most of the books I buy are from Amazon. I would be happy to switch apps.
Erie County Public Library,Kindle Unlimited or free books on Amazon through Digitalbooktoday.com(GREAT SITE).
Local online store: when I'm buying favorite booksLibrary: My other favorite place when I'm not buying the books
Mainly Amazon b/c they are usually the best deal on there where if I buy at a bookstore I end up having to pay quite a bit extras, especially if the book is in hardcover I'd have to pay $18 compared to Amazon's $10. If it's a massmarket book I'll buy in my local bookstore b/c there's not much of a price difference, a dollar or two at most. I am definitely one of those people who wants to get the best possible deal.
book outlet, powells, amazon (sometimes...depending if either book site don't have the book or author I am looking for)
Needs a "depends on the book." I buy from Amazon if it's an ebook, iTunes if it's an audiobook, B&N or local stores if it's a hardcover or paperback. And I go through phases where I borrow from the library too.
I wish I could buy more books from the bookstore but I am a poor student and Amazon has much better prices.
I rarely buy books these days. Between my library, limited shelf space and Netgalley there's just no need to buy any except those I *know* we'll reread many times.
Ummm in Amazon and in a book store . Because in my country is difficult find some of them. I find them but the problem is that they are very expensive or the movie is going to come so "is fashion" to buy the book and the cover is of the movie and I really prefer the original covers
Mostly I use the library (and Project Gutenberg), but when I want to buy something I use Book Depository (to find something particular), make finds from book fairs and book markets, or buy from a Finnish website where several second-hand bookshops are selling their items. Brand new books are too expensive for my budget, and I rarely find anything interesting from regular bookshops' sales.
I love my Kindle Unlimited so I usually use Amazon to look for available prices and compare prices, but offline Half Price Books get my vote
I wish it would let us vote for multiple. We get over half of our books from the library. We read far too much (especially the kids) to buy all the books we read. If I'm buying I will often go to Amazon for convenience and price, especially since most I get on my Kindle. Otherwise the local bookstore. The majority of books the kids own come from consignment stores.
Many places...actually..The Library, friends who lend me books, Direct from publisher AND online & elsewhere....you know, 3rd sites like ARe and the like.
so... I guess I won't vote because I pretty much get books everywhere if/when I wanna read. :P
Amazon. My city is so small, there isn't a local bookstore; and my library is underfunded, so there aren't many books there to choose from :(
Online, in my case, Adlibris - because I can find books I want there, I don't need a credit card for it, and it's fast enough delivery.
Based on the options, I treated this as a question about physical books. If it had been about ebooks, I buy them almost all online as close to the author as I can get.
I make good use of my library card. I also go to a lot of booksales that my library has every other month that is name your own price, so I get tons of books for wicked cheap.

If you live anywhere in PA,you can get a library card from the Free Library of Philadelphia. They have 120,000 ebooks you can check out.
