Jazzy Lemon from second hand shops.

Zombieslayer⚡Alienhunter Many places.
Amazon, a lot, but I also get a catalog from the E. Howard Hamilton bookseller. And the second hand shop.

message 3: by Mehsi (new)

Mehsi English books: Amazon.de
Dutch books: Bookstores

message 4: by Andrew✌️ (new)

Andrew✌️ Usually on Amazon, and other times in a bookstore.

message 5: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer If I'm actually spending money on a book, it's almost always on Amazon or Audible. But I get most of my books from the local library or from the New Jersey State Library Talking Book and Braille Center, which are mailed to me. I can't get enough books. :)

message 6: by Jazzy (last edited Dec 13, 2014 04:56AM) (new)

Jazzy Lemon Buying new books is a luxury I really can't afford, I'm always scouring the markets, charity shops and second hand bookshops. If there is something I really want and I can't find it elsewhere, then I'll get it from Amazon or ebay. I think i've only bought one new book in the past decade, and that was Frankie Manning: Ambassador of Lindy Hop because I couldn't find it anywhere, and the library didn't even have a copy.

Unfortunately this poll didn't even have the option available for second hand shops.

I'm guessing that Online or elsewhere would cover it.

message 8: by Nenia (new)

Nenia Campbell I get most of mine from thrift stores and used book stores. Sometimes I buy a title from Target if it's got that 20% off sticker, and something that I really want. I almost never order books online if I can help it.

message 9: by Jackie (new)

Jackie I rarely buy books, since we have a fairly good library system, but when I do, it is generally through Amazon.

message 10: by Sean (new)

Sean O I read almost entirely on my Kindle or tablet so most of the books I buy are from Amazon.

I would be happy to switch apps.

Tina (A Novel Time With Tina) Mostly Amazon for my kindle, but hard or soft back copies I get from a local used book store.

message 12: by Hayden (new)

Hayden Vanier mostly from charity between 0,50$ to 3,00$CA.

message 13: by Mike (new)

Mike French Erie County Public Library,Kindle Unlimited or free books on Amazon through Digitalbooktoday.com(GREAT SITE).

message 14: by P (new)

P Bookstores, online, library, friends/family, abandoned books at the laundromat . . .

message 15: by Jenni (new)

Jenni Local online store: when I'm buying favorite books
Library: My other favorite place when I'm not buying the books

message 16: by Mariya (new)

Mariya Mainly Amazon b/c they are usually the best deal on there where if I buy at a bookstore I end up having to pay quite a bit extras, especially if the book is in hardcover I'd have to pay $18 compared to Amazon's $10. If it's a massmarket book I'll buy in my local bookstore b/c there's not much of a price difference, a dollar or two at most. I am definitely one of those people who wants to get the best possible deal.

message 17: by Alexander (new)

Alexander Almvik Library!

message 18: by Kaitlin (new)

Kaitlin book outlet, powells, amazon (sometimes...depending if either book site don't have the book or author I am looking for)

message 19: by Lance (new)

Lance The apple store. I like my iBooks app. :)

message 20: by Marijke (new)

Marijke I buy them on Book Depository. (:

message 21: by Sloka (new)

Sloka second hand stores are the way to go

message 22: by Sage (new)

Sage Collins Needs a "depends on the book." I buy from Amazon if it's an ebook, iTunes if it's an audiobook, B&N or local stores if it's a hardcover or paperback. And I go through phases where I borrow from the library too.

message 23: by Nicole(thereadingrebel) (last edited Dec 21, 2014 12:42PM) (new)

Nicole(thereadingrebel) Amazon and My local used bookstore but if Barnes and Noble has special editions I buy there.

message 24: by Becs (new)

Becs I wish I could buy more books from the bookstore but I am a poor student and Amazon has much better prices.

message 25: by Hilary (new)

Hilary I rarely buy books these days. Between my library, limited shelf space and Netgalley there's just no need to buy any except those I *know* we'll reread many times.

message 26: by James (new)

James Parker Sometimes Amazon, sometimes Waterstones, sometimes authors websites.

message 27: by John ☾ (new)

John ☾ Everywhere.

message 28: by Asounani (new)

Asounani Ummm in Amazon and in a book store . Because in my country is difficult find some of them. I find them but the problem is that they are very expensive or the movie is going to come so "is fashion" to buy the book and the cover is of the movie and I really prefer the original covers

message 29: by JessCB24 (new)

JessCB24 i mainly buy my audiobooks and Ebooks of iTunes.

message 30: by Kim (new)

Kim My nearest local bookstore happens to be a wonderful used-book shop.

message 31: by Natalia (new)

Natalia h Bookdepository.

message 32: by Suvi (last edited Jan 01, 2015 09:51AM) (new)

Suvi Mostly I use the library (and Project Gutenberg), but when I want to buy something I use Book Depository (to find something particular), make finds from book fairs and book markets, or buy from a Finnish website where several second-hand bookshops are selling their items. Brand new books are too expensive for my budget, and I rarely find anything interesting from regular bookshops' sales.

message 33: by Elaine (new)

Elaine The 50p charity paperback shelf in our local village shop.

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

I love my Kindle Unlimited so I usually use Amazon to look for available prices and compare prices, but offline Half Price Books get my vote

message 35: by Amber (new)

Amber I wish it would let us vote for multiple. We get over half of our books from the library. We read far too much (especially the kids) to buy all the books we read. If I'm buying I will often go to Amazon for convenience and price, especially since most I get on my Kindle. Otherwise the local bookstore. The majority of books the kids own come from consignment stores.

message 36: by Neko (new)

Neko Many places...actually..
The Library, friends who lend me books, Direct from publisher AND online & elsewhere....you know, 3rd sites like ARe and the like.
so... I guess I won't vote because I pretty much get books everywhere if/when I wanna read. :P

message 37: by Dhuaine (new)

Dhuaine Amazon, or Book Depository if it's cheaper. :)

message 38: by Marwa (new)

Marwa Charity shops. So cheap and it means I can buy so much more.

message 39: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie Half Price Books or second hand shops listed through Amazon.

Michelle Elizabeth Amazon. My city is so small, there isn't a local bookstore; and my library is underfunded, so there aren't many books there to choose from :(

message 41: by 7jane (new)

7jane Online, in my case, Adlibris - because I can find books I want there, I don't need a credit card for it, and it's fast enough delivery.

message 42: by Teresa (new)

Teresa Second hand bookstores or Bookdepository.

message 43: by Ben (new)

Ben Nash Based on the options, I treated this as a question about physical books. If it had been about ebooks, I buy them almost all online as close to the author as I can get.

message 44: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie I make good use of my library card. I also go to a lot of booksales that my library has every other month that is name your own price, so I get tons of books for wicked cheap.

Zombieslayer⚡Alienhunter Michelle E. wrote: "Amazon. My city is so small, there isn't a local bookstore; and my library is underfunded, so there aren't many books there to choose from :("

I feel your pain. Our local library runs on a small grant, and even with that it's mostly just a place for people to check their email.

message 46: by Bronia (new)
