or $1.99 on Amazon if you want it nicely formatted. I just used the free version and mailed it to my kindle with no problem.

You think so? It does't even mention a prequel on the paperback version of the book!! RUDE! lol

I've finished the book. Many reviews I've read have said that the prequel is so essential that it should be included in the book itself. While I think you could read the book without the prequel, it would seriously degrade your reading experience. The characters are different, but the prequel really sets up the universe. I think, if this book wins, we've got our first discussion point.

How did you mail the free version to your kindle?

If you go here, I walk through the steps to set / find the email address associated with your Kindle: http://imgur.com/a/DY5cJ
My favorite usage of that email is to send webpages directly to my Kindle to read later. Very useful for long singular pages such as this story (or New York Times articles). That link is on the last step - or just go here if you already know your kindle email and just want this info: http://www.amazon.com/gp/sendtokindle
I've used the Android, Chrome, and email features if you have questions about those. Also useful for forwarding attachments you have in email to your kindle.
