I actually like both series but if I had to pick one over the other I think I enjoyed the hunger games more not that I didn't also love the divergent series

I like both. This is like the hardest choice ever, it's like choosing between Tris & Katniss. But, to be honest I liked Divergent more. It kept me reading more than the hunger games, which took me a full year to bring myself to read it as I couldn't get past the first chapter. (but then I read all three books in a month, lol.)
The Hunger Games had an annoying main character and a stupid romance. It was still good, but not nearly as good as Divergent.
THIS WAS SO HARD ... but it had to be Hunger Games, mainly because I find Four X Tris a bit annoying and forced, especially after they had (view spoiler)

For me, Tris was better, but Katniss wasnt so horrible either.

I also agree. Annoying main character is right. Also very stupid romance! LOL! I enjoyed your points of view so much.

I was so annoyed that Katniss chose Peeta instead of Gale who had mental health, was loving her since forever and always supporting her

We did go to see the movie."oh, sorry for the spoiler then. But i'm glad too, because normally the people love katniss and i really think that she was boring
Hunger Games, because even though I have fangirled over Tris and Four much more than I ever did about Katniss and Peeta, at the end of the trilogy Suzanne Collins patched up her story much better than Veronica. Also, when you think about it, Hunger Games is a much more realistic story than Divergent. Come on people, with the way the world is progressing many things shown in the hunger games might just come true.
(PS: note the recent met gala and it's closeness to Suzanne's portrayal of the Capitol)
Honestly, The Hunger Games is on a completely different level than Divergent. Divergent was fun enough, but it has none of the depth of The Hunger Games.

Interesting --- I actually find Tris to be more irritating than Katniss ever was! In fact, I am having a hard time making it thru the 2nd book because she can't make up her mind! Katniss felt so much more real ..... but that's just me.
I used to think Divergent was better written than The Hunger Games years ago. I read The Hunger Games first, and then Divergent. Truth is, when I said that, I had only read the first Divergent book, which I think is the best of the series. I loved that book so much the first time I read it, that I literally finished it, closed it, opened it up to the beginning, and read it all over again!
But...then I finished the Divergent series, and found the rest of it to be marginally forgettable. I legit have no idea what happens after the first book...except for a few flashes of plot here and there. Not trying to diss it!!! Just genuinely can't remember it.
But the Hunger Games...I remember devouring those books! I remember wanting to read them because my mom would stay up till like 3 in the morning night after night reading them, which astonished me because my mom HATES reading. If SHE was reading, then...these must be incredible books, right? That's what I thought, and then I read them and loved them too.
The thing is, I think the Hunger Games has an important message, flawed characters, no pointless killing of people, and good PTSD representation, etc. I love how raw it is, how unforgiving it is in portraying heavy matters. Yeah, it's YA, but I still think it's a lot more than that.
Divergent on the other hand...I think it has a good theme of "what makes someone human," and such. And there aren't too many unnecessary deaths. But I started to find Tris and Tobias annoying--and a bit TOO perfect. The way they shoved their emotions down all the time is actually a sign to me of what doesn't make someone human. Ironically. I like it--I don't hate it--but I love The Hunger Games more.
I really have to reread both of them, but THG has always had a bigger impact on me than Divergent. I was so young when I read the former and it really got me into YA in general. I liked Divergent but I guess it didn't have such an impact as THG. Doesn't mean THG is better than Divergent, but it definitely means more to me as a reader. I've read THG about four to five times and Divergent only once (but as I said, it's time for a reread!)
I LOVE both of them, but if you are talking about the series, then Hunger Games would be my favorite.
Wasn't a huge fan of The Hunger Games but it certainly has more of a visceral impact and consistency than a half-baked dystopia about cliques.
