hi! i’ve been looking everywhere for a good wlw book and i can’t find anything thats not spicy. any recs? no dark romance/ spice please. any trope is cool ( but a slow burn….. 😩 ). i’ll be happy even if romance isn’t the main plot.

I need some help with book recs because I've officially reached the point where I spend more time scrolling through Goodreads than actually picking my next read. 😭
Fair warning though... I'm a very picky reader.
Right now I'm looking for either:
🖤 A psychological thriller that will completely mess with my head.
💕 A romance series/book that'll have me emotionally attached for weeks.

Thrillers I've loved:
A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (the entire series)
Never Lie
The Silent Patient
Love, Mom
And Then There Were None

Romance books/series I've loved:
Windy City series
Pretty much anything by Lynn Painter
Beg, Borrow, or Steal
Breathe With Me (my favorite from the Playing for Keeps series)
The Love Hypothesis

A few things about my taste:
• I haven't really explored romantasy, and I don't plan on diving into it anytime soon.
• I'm not a fan of overly alpha, controlling, or possessive MMCs. Confidence? Yes. Walking red flag? Not so much. 😭
• I don't mind spice, but I'm not looking for books where every other chapter is basically smut. I like it when the romance and the story come first.
• Slow burn has my whole heart, but a well-done insta-love won't scare me away either.
• Enemies to lovers? Sign me up. Friends to lovers is great too... just not best friends to lovers (I don't know why, it's just never been my thing 😂).
• If it's a series with a found family, I'm probably already sold.
• For thrillers, I'm open to almost anything as long as it doesn't get too dark or emotionally draining. I love a good twist, but I don't want to be emotionally scarred by the end.

If any of my favorites overlap with yours, I'd LOVE to hear your recommendations! Drop your absolute favorites in the comments (and feel free to tell me why you loved them too). My TBR is always accepting new victims!! And if you don't have any recommendations, that's okay! I'd really appreciate it if you could invite a few friends who might have some hidden gems to share. Every recommendation helps!
