Indeed, philosophers say the greatest happiness comes to those who learn to live without wealth, or fame. And if this is true, then the rewards society offers those who serve it are only grains of dust that blind men to the true happiness that comes from the act of serving.

Each memory recalled ten other similar bits of memory, till the whole was woven inextricably together to form a story of a person or thing that had been important to my life.
