As the preacher of Ecclesiastes relates, “I denied my eyes nothing that they desired, refused my heart no pleasure…. What futility it all was, what chasing after the wind.” To state it more positively, the law is a way of grace, established to help foster and mark the path to freedom and love. “Turn me from the path of delusion,” the psalmist prays, “grant me the grace of your Law….
