When we see Him face-to-face in all His awesome holiness and blazing glory, it will seem incredible to us that we ever had a casual thought in relation to Him. —JOY DAWSON
God loves you as much as He loves Jesus! Still, you may think, He is only speaking of the disciples.
He values you as much as He values Jesus. It also means He values those around you as much as He values Jesus.
One definition of profane is “to treat something sacred with irreverence.” It means to treat what is holy as common or ordinary.
They erred in becoming too familiar with God’s holy and glorious presence and consequently acted in a way that brought disaster upon them.
Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, I ask Your forgiveness in approaching You with a casual and irreverent attitude. I’ve lost sight of who You are and have become too familiar with You. I repent and will no longer see You as a “buddy” but will revere you as the holy God that You are. Thank You for being so kind and merciful and for forgiving me of my irreverence. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
Do I continually live with awareness that God knows my innermost thoughts, motives, and intentions? How can I increase my awareness of this truth?
Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, I ask that my motives and intentions would be as pure as Jesus’ motives and intentions. May I filter all my thoughts, desires, words, and actions through the understanding that You continually examine my ways. May I never diminish this truth in my own perception of You. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
