“Did he seriously find the cat?” Aristide asked. “I’m really hoping not, or he’s going to be unbearably smug for weeks.” “I found her,” Noctus said as we drew closer. “She was running here, absolutely terrified. She was trying to find me.” “Do we need to be concerned about how smart he thinks his cat is?” Aristide asked. “It’s a forgone conclusion Ama is not a normal housecat,” Charon said. “Even if we don’t know exactly what she is, she is obviously more intelligent.” Aristide leaned back and sighed into the night sky. “That’s right, I forgot, you’re an enabler.” Once we reached the group Ker

but it wouldn’t matter, because no one would have the same story—including the wizards, since Charon had knocked the second wizard out in the kitchen and he never saw any of the fight. The Curia Cloisters task force would likely be able to tell it was a fae confusion charm, but that was the beauty of using a fae confusion charm—it wouldn’t get traced back to Noctus or the others. He crackled with so much power my whiskers were numb, and the edges of his glass sword glowed with unrestricted magic. He was the pinnacle of supernatural society, and even though I swore I could feel the whispers of death come from him, there was something so painfully beautiful it was hard to breathe. The fae with the ax took a few steps toward Noctus, raising the weapon over his head.
Dude really? You aren't paid enough for that step, or I guess your Queen would kill you if you fail maybe? He'd be a faster death?
