most bosses really don’t give a crap about your child at home with a stomach bug, unable to go into daycare that day. They really only care that you didn’t show up to work and earn them the money they were counting on.

I've been both the boss & the mom with the sick kid - and this isn't fair. When someone doesn't show up - it doesn't matter how valid the reason - in most cases it hurts business & everyone else has to try to compensate. So, no, it's not all most bosses care about, but it can be horribly stressful. I've been a SAHM for more than 2 decades now, but I STILL have nightmares about being massively busy at work & then having a technician call in sick
