Rhys picked up the ax and took my hand, pulling me along the path. “We’re leaving the tree?” “We’ll come back for it.” He snuck me a glance. “I don’t let anything go easily once it’s mine.”

“If my life was a romcom, I would be the girl left behind because the hero and the heroine finally met and fell in love. But there’s nothing wrong with the hero in those movies. He’s lovely. Which makes it hard to hate him, but it also makes me hate him more.”
