“Anyone ever told you that you’re bossy?” she asked. “Yes.” “Oh. Well. They’d be right. You are.”
“I know.” “As long as you know it,” she muttered. “I do.” “And pushy. Ha. Have they told you that you’re pushy?” “Yep.” “Darn. What about handsome? I bet no one has ever told you that!”
“You’ve got me there,” he said. “No one has ever called me handsome.” “Yay!
“Is there anything else you need?
“Just you.” This was a new feeling. No one had ever needed him. Sure, he was called on when someone wanted something at work. And online, when he was gaming, he was a king, kicking ass and taking names. But not in his personal life. He was not the person anyone needed anything from. Except Autumn needed him. “Me?” She nodded. “You. Need. Hurts.”
“Tutu is good.”
cherry scent.
“Please don’t cry. Please.” He raced over, landing heavily on his knees beside her. He didn’t touch her, remembering the way she’d cringed away from him just before. But as her sobs continued, he couldn’t help himself. Moving onto his butt, he lifted her slowly and carefully onto his lap. At any sign of resistance, he’d let her go. But to his shock, she curled into him. Her hand grabbed hold of his T-shirt and she pressed her face to his chest.
“Don’t call yourself that.” “What? A weirdo? Or a nerd?” “Both.” “That’s sweet. But I am a nerd.”
Because I like you and want to be in your life. As your friend, your boyfriend, maybe your playmate.”
“I didn’t say that!” she said in a high-pitched voice. “I’ll forget I ever heard it!” he said hastily.
Think I can have them on tap?”
“Is it . . . is it me? Is there something about me? Am I not enough?” “What? What are you talking about? This is about me.” He stared at her incredulously. “How could there be anything wrong with you? You’re amazing. Kind, smart, and gorgeous.” He rubbed at the back of his head, looking slightly sheepish and embarrassed. “You really are good for my ego.”
“The thing is . . . I’m not a Daddy Dom.” “Oh.” She was puzzled for a moment. She knew that. Did he think that was a problem? “That’s not an issue for me. Did you think I thought you were one?”
“Spit oath.” He grimaced. “Without the spit,” she added with a grin.
I want to take care of you.” “I want to take care of you as well.” He brushed his lips across her forehead. “We’ll take care of each other.” She sighed happily. That sounded so nice.
Her well was empty and she needed cuddles and quiet time to refill it.
“Not feeling very verbal right now, huh?” He eyed her. She shook her head. He brushed her hair back gently before kissing her again. “That’s all right. When you need me to, I’ll be your voice.”
See? He could be understanding. And generous. He was really growing and no one around to bask in his magnificence. That was a damn shame. He thought about waking them up so they could applaud him, but his Bunny needed her sleep. He was killing this Daddy Dom stuff. Look at him putting her needs ahead of his. He didn’t know why he hadn’t done this already. Being in a relationship was going to be so easy.
Wow, he was cute. He bent over to pull something out of the car and she found herself checking out his butt.
Broad shoulders. She was a sucker for broad shoulders.
You really should have something safer, though.” “So I’ve been told,” she said faintly. “Maybe a Hummer.” She eyed him. “A Hummer?” “I’m Owen,” he said instead of answering her.
Damn, her allure was working overtime at the moment.
“I didn’t think you came out in the daylight,” she said. “I’m not a vampire, Bunny.”
His hand came around to lie on her shoulder. His fingers ran over her neck. Arousal flooded her. Whoa.
“What are you thinking, Bunny?” “What’s in your basement?” “That’s not what I expected you to say.”
“You can’t kill them, though.” “Why not?” “You know why not.” There was a long beat of silence. Holy. Crap. Maybe he really didn’t know why not. “You can’t just kill people because they upset me. That’s not . . . that’s not right.” “Feels right to me. They upset my Bunny, so I make sure they don’t exist anymore. Someone touches you, they die. Someone hurts you, they die.” Wow. She liked that. No. No, nope, nuh-uh, she did not like that.
“You’ve got such a soft heart, Bunny.”
“It’s a bit of a flaw. I should try to fix it. But strangely, I rather like it. It makes you very different from me. I shall try to guard your soft heart and ridiculous feelings of guilt about people who deserve to die.”
brightly-colored mismatched socks
Autumn: Miss you, Brody-bear. Brody: Brody-bear? I’m not much of a bear. Sure, he was. He was her cuddly teddy bear. But maybe she wouldn’t tell him that part. Brody: I’m going to pretend that you think of me as a big, ferocious bear ready to defend his territory and not a cuddly teddy bear. Even though we both know the truth. Oops.
I would give up everything else in my life to be with you. To make sure you’re looked after and cared for.”
“You look a bit scary right now.” He gave her a wary look. “My soda. Mine.”
She’d never met someone who ate as quickly as he did. Mind you, she was the opposite. It took her forever to finish a meal. And to get dressed. Sometimes her mind was so busy, she found herself taking on three tasks at a time without managing to finish just one.
“I’m innocent of all charges.” “You don’t know what the charges are.” “It seemed prudent to protest my innocence anyway.”
“Are you always going to sneak up on me?” “Maybe. It’s fun when you make those squeaky noises”
He huffed out a breath. She really needed to pay him more attention.
“Are you grouchy at me?” “Part of me wants to take you over my knee and spank you. Your job is to do whatever I want.” “Oh, is it?” she asked, sounding amused. “And what’s your job?” “To take care of your every need and make certain you’re never unhappy another day in your life.”
“For years, I had nothing. Now, I have every material thing I want.” But it still hadn’t been enough. Not until he’d met Sunny and realized what he was missing . . . A person. He’d needed a person of his own. And because he liked to be greedy, he was going to have two.
Who knew looking after a Little could be so time-consuming? Perhaps he should have greater respect for Duke and his friends.
Nah. He wasn’t feeling that generous.
he had the most gorgeous ass
Was it her allure?
He had short brown hair and a neatly trimmed beard.
There was nothing particularly remarkable about his face, and yet . . . There was also something mesmerizing about
“No.” “No?”
“No, thank you?” he said hesitantly. What could he say to put him in a less murderous mood? “Very polite. I like that. Good boy.” Good boy? What was happening here?
Birthday Cake Baileys.
I can do magical pirouettes,
“Stop crying.” She just cried louder. What the hell? That . . . that wasn’t supposed to happen.
