“What if what I want changed?” Her mouth was dry, her palms damp. Stupid nerves. “You don’t do casual, and I respect that. I do. So let’s not be casual.”
“You told me you weren’t looking for romance.” “You’re right.” She nodded. “I wasn’t looking. But lo and behold, lucky for me, I found you anyway.”
Max grinned at Teddy. “You hear that? I’m her petit chou-fleur.” Teddy snickered. “She called you a cauliflower, you nitwit.” “Her little cauliflower,” Max said.
“I wouldn’t change a thing, because you? Gemma, you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
Tansy glanced over. White ranunculus, pink roses, and—oh. Tansies. Little sunshine yellow bursts dotted the pink and white bouquet, taking Tansy’s breath away. She laughed. “Someone once told me those are a declaration of war.” Gemma’s smile went sly. “Let’s go do battle, then.”
