“You gonna kiss me yet, Mack?” I whisper. “Give me a second.” “For what?” “So I can memorize this.” His gaze bounces around my face and lands on my mouth. “Why?” I ask with a laugh. “Because a moment like this doesn’t come along every day, Kate. And neither does a girl like you.”

“Oh, so it had nothing to do with you wanting to get laid?” I quip. His eyes soften, and he laughs, shaking his head. “Never gonna turn down being naked with you, Kate. But tonight, I’m happy to just lie here with you.”
