He's a sexy paramedic. I'm just a sick girl trying to survive college.

Pretty sure my friend is trying to set me up with her boyfriend's older brother.
There's just one problem.
Macklin's the paramedic who drove me to the hospital after a particularly ugly seizure.
And I have no desire to see him ever again.

Sure, he's attractive, and sweet, no matter how grumpy I am to him.
But he's also stubborn and is convinced we should be friends.
Which is fine...
If I don't strangle him first...
Or jump his bones when we find ourselves sharing a bed during a snowstorm.
Yeah. I'm in trouble.

Kelsie is a sucker for a love story with all the feels. When she's not chasing words for her next book, you will probably find her reading or, more likely, hanging out with her husband and playing with her three kiddos who love to drive her crazy.

She adores photography, baking, her yorkie, Bob, and her devon rex, Mara. And now that she's actively pursuing her writing dreams, she's set her sights on someday finding the self-discipline to not binge-watch an entire series on Netflix in one sitting.

The way that I devoured this book so quickly. A golden retriever single dad? And an age gap?! I am absolutely obsessed with Macklin and Kate! Their love story was so wholesome and beautiful even through all of the obstacles you never once doubt their love for each other. I am already ready to turn back to page one and read it all over again!

I LOVE this series, but this book has my WHOLE HEART 💖

Throughout the series, I could totally empathise with Kate; we both have something in common - a life altering chronic health condition. It is a topic not many authors choose to tackle, and so I applaud Kelsie for putting us on the map 🙌🏼

“Because you deserve a guy who understands there’s so much more to you than your diagnosis.” 🙌🏼💖✨

I am going to keep this review short because me telling you that I ADORED it says it all, but let me tell you one thing - Kelsie Rae is a powerful writer; in this book alone, she created a beautiful masterpiece of true, pure love, but she also tore my heart apart into tiny little shreds and trampled on it SO hard it hurt 😢 Gosh, I have not felt this kind of connection to many other fictional couples. Kelsie, you are dangerously talented 👏🏼

My prickly porcupine and Mr. Golden Retriever won me over - this is definitely my FAVOURITE book of the series!

“Everyone falls, Kate. The trick is to enjoy the ride while it lasts.” 👌🏽🥹💖

Thank you Kelsie Rae, for the arc! These opinions are my own & I am leaving my review voluntarily.

“You’re worth the risk. Worth the fear. Because every single day I get to spend in your presence is a day worth having. Before you, I was lost.”

You’d love this book if you enjoy:
Age Gap
Reverse Grumpy Sunshine
College Romance
Golden Retriever MMC

This book also has epilepsy rep, and is described in detail.

I absolutely love Mack & Kate. I love that Mack is older (nine years). He is just so kind and nurturing, so attentive to all of Kate’s needs. His cameo in the last book definitely intrigued me and I’m so glad that he was the MMC in this book.

Kate is a college student who struggles with epilepsy. Because of this, she is a little hesitant to get close to anyone - as she’s had a handful of men who couldn’t deal with her having this.

I love love love how mature Mack was in all of his interactions with Kate - his maturity really showed. He’s been married for the wrong reasons in the past, and I loved that he’s grown from that and is ready to put himself first. I also loved seeing how Kate grew to lean on Mack for help when she needed it.

Overall, AMAZING read. I couldn’t put it down. I binge read it in a day and am fully OBSESSED with it.

PICK UP THIS BOOK NOW. OR I MEAN, PREORDER IT NOW.

p.s. i’m so excited for Mia and Henry’s book 😏

this was another cute romance in this series. Not as much sports romance this time, but loved the little hockey moments splashed through. Kate grows a lot as a character in this having Mack show her what real love is like and I loved that. I also loved that he was an older character and written well. He didn’t play games. Didn’t do any BS. He was to the point and I enjoyed that. This series has been a fun to read!

i haven't read it and wouldn't read it even if i had a gun to my head, but the damage the other two books had on me is irreversible and i won't be recovering anytime soon from such bad literature. i'm counting it as read because i fucking can, i don't give a shit.

1 star heroine and 3 star hero makes for a a 2 star book. The girl was boring besides her condition she had no personality and they made her condition be her personality which i found insulting. She is quiet shy and has epilepsy thats it. Oh and she is kinda rude and standoffish in the beginning towards the hero for no reason which i did not like. The hero was just the nice guy they guy is every rom com who is perfect and has no faults and a killer body. If he is so amazing and a great dad why does he not have joint custody. The fact he did not have joint custody ruined the story for me. He should have pushed for joint custody it his right as their parent but no he was a pushover which dropped him several stars

And that wrap up everyone saw coming she had to have a episode in front of the daughter to make everything right so predictable.

i usually don’t let bad writing sway my rating of books, but holy cow this was bad. i should’ve dnfed at 60% like i thought about because literally nothing happened. i was hooked at the beginning, but man it just went downhill fast. you would think for a 25 year old woman & a 34 year old man would have their crap together, but apparently not. kate has epilepsy & she crosses paths with macklin who is a paramedic. which, if they didn’t mention that in the beginning of the book, you never would’ve known. i thought it was going to be so sexy & he was going to be so caring, & it just fell so flat. kate was stupid & truly only cared about herself. i wanted to read this series to read her second one about their kids, but if they’re anything like this, no thank you

If you know me then you know I am the biggest Kelsie Rae fan :)

This series is hands down my favorite series ever!!!!!

I thought i loved Don't Let Me Fall & Don't Let Me Go.... but Don't Let Me Break absolutely takes the cake!!!

Macklin has officially skipped book boyfriend material and jumped straight into book husband <3 this man made me fall in love with him throughout this whole book. This man screams gold retriever energy (which is my weakness)

I have never resonated with a character as much as I have with Kate. IYKYK.

Kelsie you did it again! You are genius with a keyboard! This book was everything I wanted and needed!!

There are no words to even begin to ever explain how much I loved this book. I just finished it minutes ago after starting it this morning. I couldn’t put this book down. I was pulled in from the first sentence.

Mack and Kate are one of my favorite couples Kelsie has ever written. This book made me laugh, cry, fan myself because hot damn Macklin Taylor🥵🥵 He’s the kinda book husband everyone wants! This book had me falling in love along with the characters. I felt every emotion. I’ve been in such a slump and this book is everything I had been looking for! If I could have a perfect man it would be macklin Taylor him and all his baggage.
I was so blessed to have received an Arc of this amazing book! And please please please buy this book! You will not regret it! I ten out of ten recommend! Seriously buy this book!!

My favorite troupe is single parent.
This story just so happens to feature a single father who happens to be the brother to one of her friends. Not just brother, but older and hot brother! Too bad she feels like he’s seen her at her worst moments. Let’s face it, their first meeting consists of her having an ‘episode’ and him riding in the ambulance to the hospital with her. And he stays with her!
This story flows well and of course does have a happily ever after!

I devoured this book, and I think partially why was the age range 25, and 34 it felt more comfortable and reasonable then 16 or 18 or even 20. Yeah some aspects of the 34 freaked me out, but the book makes a solid case as why to ignore that. I know I said these kind of romance series are lazy but I’m excited for who’s next since she deserves a happy ending too! But god I’d love a guy like Macklin…

Thank you Kelsie Rae for the ARC- the book was amazing and absolutely heartwarming. Absolutely stunning, her writing is phenomenal and she keeps you on the edge of your seat with her twists. Have you ever heard of a perfect book boyfriend- Mack Taylor is it. He’s sweet, charming and lovable. Kate- stubborn, strong and unbreakable. The way Mack shows Kate that asking for help and coming out of your shell is not a bad thing all while maintaining his compassion and love for her. I was so compelled to find out what happens that I read it all in one day in less than 12 hours. Seriously such a good book!! Loved it and can’t wait for Mia’s story next!!!

I ate this book, upppp!!! I finished it in about 24 hours .

This is an age gap romance following Macklin ( Theos brother) who recently got divorced, but not only is he dealing with that, but his ex-wife has been putting terrible thoughts into his daughters head. which has caused them to be pretty much no contact for 2 years even though he messages them every day. He constantly feels alone and hates it.

until one day he gets invited by his brother to a dinner where he meets Kate....and no it's not a normal meet because she's having a seizure and immediately rushes in to help .

Kate has epilepsy and hates asking for any kind of help and constantly feels like shes a burden and no one will love her because of her chronic illness. but Mack shows her that shes is strong because of her diagnosis....not weak! He begins putting her back together and realizing that shes who he's always wanted.

Some of my favorite quotes :

""You're not joking with me, are you?" I push.

“Is there a problem with romance novels, my prickly porcupine?"

"Not at all," I rush out. "I'm surprised, is all. I've never met a guy who reads romance, let alone one who admits it out loud."

With a shrug, he scratches his jaw. "To be fair, I started reading romance books when Miley posted the cover of a book on her Instagram. I bought it hoping we could discuss it."

He read a romance book in hopes of connecting with his daughter?

Swoon."

""Don't forget your medicine," he adds.

"Seriously?"

"Just taking care of you, Kate."

"Uh-huh." I fold my arms and pop out my hip. "Okay, Dad"

With a smirk, he tucks his hands into his front pockets and rocks back on his heels. "You can call me daddy anytime.""

""And after that?" I push, more turned on than I've ever been in my entire life. I can't help it. The foreplay we just experienced will be tattooed onto my memory for the rest of my measly existence. And since he's asked me out, I want to know where we go from here and if it involves his dick between my thighs again.

He bends closer, his mouth tickling against the shell of my ear. "I'm gonna jerk off to the memory of how good you felt against me, praying one day you'll like me enough to want the same thing. I want you, Kate. Physically, emotionally, intellectually. Sound okay to you, my prickly little porcupine?""

"You deserve the romance novel kind of love. The one where you can’t get enough, and you’re convinced a guy like that doesn’t exist in the real world."

Holy wow, Kelsie Rae wrecked me with this book! An emotional roller coaster in the best possible way, Don't Let Me Break, third in the Don't Let Me series, is Kate and Macklin's story. And what a story it is! Kate and Macklin are two lonely, broken souls who find themselves a little less lonely together. Kate struggles with epilepsy, holding back from letting others in, feeling she's not worth the effort and the inconvenience, thinking she's only setting herself up for heartbreak. But things change when she meets Macklin. He doesn't see her illness. He sees her. And it's just beautiful to witness. He makes her feel special, breaking down her walls and crumbling her insecurities.

And what can I say about Macklin? This man is everything! An absolute golden retriever, he's thoughtful and kind and so caring. The way he loves Kate, the way he loves his daughters, I'm swooning over my first official book husband. Nine years older than Kate, he had isolated himself since his divorce, not wanting to even be with anyone before he met her. Now that they've met, sharing an intimacy and a deeper connection, more emotional than physical, he finally starts to fight for his own happiness. But will their age difference come between them? Will Kate's illness break them? Will the baggage Macklin carries from his divorce tear them apart?

Kate and Macklin have the power to break each other because their connection is so intense and meaningful. Their relationship feels so natural and I can't imagine two people who belong together more. They bring out the best in each other, friends first, then exploring the possibility of something more. Macklin makes Kate feel safe and she lets her guard down, trusting him and realizing she truly matters. He provides comfort and the sense of security she's been missing for too long. Her illness no longer needs to be a barrier. It doesn't have to define her. She's worthy of being loved.

The attraction between Kate and Macklin is deliciously steamy but it goes so much further than that. This is a story about loving completely and unconditionally, embracing each other's flaws and finally finding that person who makes you feel whole. I'm beyond words as I reflect back on this book and I can't say enough about how incredible it was to read. I laughed at the banter and I cried through the emotions and the pain of everything these two experienced, how much they loved each other and how much they feared losing each other. I was completely immersed in their world and I recommend it wholeheartedly as a step up in the new adult genre.

"You’re worth the risk. Worth the fear. Because every single day I get to spend in your presence is a day worth having."

4,25* I really really loved Kate and Macklin’s story! More so than the two previous books in this series! I think in my mind this couple just made more sense to me, don’t really know how else to explain it 😅 I loved the fact that there is an age gap in this book because it was definitely necessary given Kate’s medical history.
So basically Kate suffers from epilepsia and towards then end of book 2 she ends up getting a seizure. Low and behold, here comes Macklin, Theo’s older brother, to save the day.
Macklin is a 34 year old paramedic, who is recently divorced after having been married for 16 years with two daughters. Kate is a 25 year old student who due to her condition has learned to only rely on herself and doesn’t want to be an incovenience to others. That is until she meets Mack, he calls her a prickly porcupine and she calls him a golden retriever. Match made in heaven am I right? What I love about this book is how grown-up and responsible Mack is. He recognises her conditions, knows how to deal with it, shows her it’s okay to ask for help when you need to, is super thoughtful and just so mature. There is no miscommunications happening in this book because both characters rely on stability and communication. Mack is very clear with his intentions towards Kate and straight up tells her that he is old enough to not want to play anymore games and that he likes her. Same goes for Kate, even though it does take her a while to lower her walls around Mack due to previous relationships gone bad, she knows what she’s looking for in a man and is not afraid to voice her needs.
Overall they were so much more mature than the couples in the previous books and I liked how they kind of represented a more standard day to day life in a healthy relationship!
There were fun little plot twists and the story in general was very enjoyable! I know the books are interconnected stand alones but if I were to recommend any of the books it would be this one! Although I am very curious to read Mia’s stroy because I just feel like it’ll be a great one 😇

I absolutely devoured this book! This series is so incredibly good, every single book has been amazing! Kate and Macklin are the sweetest couple ever, they learn so much about themselves through each other as well as opening up with all the baggage they both have! Macklin is the sweetest human being to walk planet earth, he can do no wrong. He is literally the dream book boyfriend who has read romance books to know how to be that man. He is so sweet and caring if Kate no matter what happens to her, he is truly swoon worthy! I breaks my heart seeing how insecure Kate is about her epilepsy, but I love how Macklin will do anything to make sure she is safe! The nicknames prickly porcupine and golden retriever that they have for each other are so cute! They both learn how to cope with their baggage and I love how they grow together! This book was incredibly good as is the rest of the Don’t Let Me series! I recommend reading this entire series because it is so amazing!

I’m going to have such a controversial opinion on this book…but I was not a fan. Kate really irritated me. I couldn’t stand that her whole identity was around her having epilepsy. I get that she was insecure about it…but that was homegirl’s entire personality. It was so frustrating. Everyone has baggage and things they want to change about themselves…but she needed a reality check. She was obsessed with herself and her condition. Now, she had some character development towards the end, but overall, she was whiny and very “pick me”.

I did really like Macklin. He was fun and very sweet to her. He brought the balance that was desperately needed. But, he was the only saving grace of this book. This book was a big let down for me.

A fun time

I absolutely love Macklin and Kate. I feel like they both go through a lot of really important character development as they find confidence in themselves any other. I think there's a lot of healthy communication within their relationship. The main thing that I didn't like was some of the outdated terms used in the book as well as Kate feeling like Macklin was the reason that she finally felt whole and like she could be loved. It felt like it wasn't giving her enough credit.

I have a nice long roster of book boyfriends. There are only a few who skip boyfriend status and go straight to book husband status and Mack is one of those very few. (As in 1 of 2). Such a golden retriever and melt worthy. 💛 Kate is soooo relatable with her feelings. These 2 together is just incredible and I love them so much. I don't want to give anything away, but you need this story in your life. I couldn't put it down! The way their story builds is beautiful and the spice is delicious 😋.

Macklin is the ultimate golden retriever book boyfriend! He is so swoony, and he was the perfect, patient guy as he showed Kate (first strictly as friends!) that her epilepsy didn’t define her and the guys who blew her off about it in the past weren’t worth her time or tears.

Everything about this story had me smiling. Well, maybe not the parts about Mack’s estrangement from his teen daughters! But the story is paced well, I felt like I really got to know these two main characters, and fell in love with them as they fell in love with each other.

Well done!

I just finished the book after barely being able to put it down.

I absolutely love this series & Macklin and Kate were one of the sweetest couples I’ve read about.

The way they trusted each other & built such a solid relationship throughout the book was my favorite part.

Macklin is the perfect Golden Retriever 💙👏🏻
