His giant hands swallowed them, and my neck cricked as I tilted it back. Our eyes met, his wild and searching. Then to my horror and complete surprise, so did our lips.
This burning that froze every part of me, that rendered me incapable of feeling anything outside of the gentle press of his soft lips against mine.
“Fire-breather.” The whisper singed, my heart unmoving in my chest. “Mother of monsters.” Cupping the back of my head, he stiffened as his forehead met mine.
“What could you possibly need me for, dragon?” “Too much,” he countered, and I ceased breathing. “Right now, I’ll settle for your mouth on mine.”
“But I do feel like I need to,” I whispered in return, skimming my hands over his smooth torso to his defined hips. “I’m beginning to feel like I might need it even more than you.”
“Nothing I imagined comes close.” His nose trailed over my cheek. “Kiss me.”
He was right. This was too much. But I knew, even as my head pounded in time with the throb ricocheting from between my legs, that I would do terrible, atrocious things to ensure I experienced it over and over again.
His mouth curved over mine, his eyelids lowered. “I’m the only one.” Just four barely audible words, yet their roughened sweetness threatened to melt me into a heated puddle.
“I fucking love you, Fia. I’ll love you regardless of what you choose to do with me.”
I stole her hand and placed my lips upon her palm. “Until every star burns out.”
