Lord knows why he wants to buy rural property in East Bumfuck, New York,
It’s an eclectic structure, an odd mixture of architecture, as if different hands have been adding to it over the years
A stilted, tense silence builds between us, brick by brick.
Anger is a much easier emotion to grapple with than fear, stress, and anxiety.
I take a deep breath and release it, trying to not stress about things I can’t control. It’s everything. I can’t control anything.
She still doesn’t move right away. “Thank you for the office supplies too. I love daisies.” “I noticed.”
“Problems don’t go away when we avoid them.”
Maybe it’s because we’re standing in the narrow space of the hallway, under the watchful eyes of her family history.
“You didn’t have to answer the phone.” She yawns. “You know I always will when it’s you.”
I take that piece of information and slide it into place with the rest of the puzzle that is Archer Weston,
I could conquer entire worlds for that smile.
I couldn’t ask her to give that up to come home and take care of everyone.” “But you could ask it of yourself?” “There wasn’t a choice.”
It doesn’t go away. The pain, the grief. It never goes away; it just changes shape.”
“Sorry. I’ll try to keep the dick jokes to a minimum. I blame the wieners.
I go everywhere and she goes nowhere, and yet neither of us has settled down,
“Grief is universal. No one is immune.”
I stalk over to him and point at his face. “Don’t you smile at me. This isn’t funny.” He grabs my finger in a gentle grip.
I should run for the hills, but I could no sooner remove my heart from my body.
But grief is the price we pay for love. Given the choice between grief and nothing, I’d choose grief. Every time.
There’s no limit, but we can only use them on things that are really important.” “Why isn’t there a limit?” He considers the question. “Is there a limit to what you would do or wouldn’t do for any of your family?”
“You are my home.
“He’s not a devil. I know the devil, Fin, and Oliver is not him.”
