Eming’s eye instantly widened, like it was looking at him with great anticipation. I can’t pet here, poking the eye will hurt, Xie Lian thought, then lowered his hand and stroked lightly along the curve of the hilt. The eye squinted into a full crescent line and quivered even harder, as if it was extremely pleased and enjoying the touch very much.
“Ain’t that just it?! The Kingdom of Xianle had fallen, so he had to ruin Yong’an too. The Yong’an people killed his own royal parents, so he had to murder the royal parents of the Crown Prince of Yong’an. An eye for an eye. It’s pure vengeance!”
i don’t remember if this line was just altered in the anime or if the line i’m thinking of is just later in the story but tai hua’s accusation against xie lian is nearly a one to one situation of what jun wu actually did to xie lian in a more subtle way
This would all depend on whether Jun Wu still valued his past affection toward Xie Lian and whether the Emperor had the heart to protect him. Many still couldn’t comprehend what sort of feelings Jun Wu held toward Xie Lian. During his first ascension, the Crown Prince of Xianle was of course treated with the utmost favor.
jun wu’s sick, borderline obsession with xie lian is such a complicated thing within this story. unbeknownst to the reader right now, he seems like a genuine mentor to xie lian with paternal level of care for him, but knowing in hindsight jun wu’s true intentions and what he’s done to xie lian, directly and indirectly, shifts these “kind” moments into nearly psychotic displays. jun wu needs to keep up appearances but being overly kind and supportive is just another way to toy with xie lian, feigning favor to make the reveal more earth shattering
That silver scimitar, hung over the red robes, was shaking nonstop. The eye upon it, shaped by silver lines, was also quivering. If it were the eye of a child, then that child was clearly bawling.
E-Ming exposing Hua Cheng’s true emotions to Xie Lian every time is just so cute and adds a lot of vulnerability to Hua Cheng’s usual stoic demeanor
“What’s wrong…?” But Hua Cheng sidestepped and turned away, avoiding Xie Lian’s touch, and smacked Eming hard on the hilt. “Nothing’s wrong. Pay it no mind.”
punishing E-Ming with a slap and diminishing it’s feeling is very much an example of what Hua Cheng does to himself, punishing himself by avoiding Xie Lian and diminishing what was taken from him(Paradise Manor)
I can take care of him. You just sit back and ignore him.” He gently rubbed Hua Cheng’s shoulder, and it was a long time before Hua Cheng finally uttered in a low voice, “Fine.”
1. love that xie lian has hua cheng wrapped around his finger and it’s shown as often as possible
2. married behavior my god, hua cheng getting angry on xie liam’s behalf, xie lian calming him down with back rubs
