Her keen eye spied at least one distressingly familiar bottle…Sun Li’s plum wine. Apparently Otto favored the beverage. She pulled the bottle from its shelf and put it in her pack. If it, too, was poisoned, the case would change considerably.
Isn't she tampering with evidence??
“With our luck, the next piece will be another body,” Vera said. Then she made the well-known forest sign of the jinx to prevent her hasty words from coming true.

“Did he ask for your alibi?” “No. He asked me if we could get together tomorrow and compare notes about the case!”
