The final stage is that of constant drinking, usually triggered by taking the morning or middle-of-the-night drink.
they will give up everything and anything just to get another drink.
Some people reading this book will consider themselves alcoholic. Some people will consider that they are not alcoholic but will consider that their drinking is becoming a problem.
Some people will also be reading this book because their is partner is, or may be on the way to becoming, an alcoholic.
someone once said to me that if you are even asking yourself if you have a problem, then you do have one.
However, in addition, you have then disrupted your night’s sleep, so you will have the additional physical and mental stress the following day of not having had a good night’s sleep.
So in admitting to yourself that you have a problem, you actually create further problems for
yourself if you don’t then stop.
My point is that if you have stopped drinking, don’t fall into the trap of thinking you can go back to how it was. Once it sours, it sours.

If she tries to watch a film or read a book, she will be unable to concentrate on it.
she will find she can eat a lot less than
she previously could, and what she does eat will make her feel much fuller than it ordinarily would.
Many people know about these, and those that do will also tell you that they are caused when stopping drinking, that they can be fatal, and that the conclusion therefore is that, for chronic long-term alcoholics, stopping drinking suddenly can be fatal. However, once again the scientific studies demonstrate that these perceived ‘facts’ have little basis in reality.
With regard to these seizures being fatal, there are no properly documented cases showing death caused by the seizures.
Having said this, there is considerable evidence that stopping drinking suddenly can be fatal, although this is usually caused by delirium tremens.
The physical withdrawal is over in five days.
the joy of socialising is often mistakenly chalked up as being due to drinking,
After all we only get one life.
rock bottom
After all, no one forces you to take a drink apart from yourself,
If you are a problem drinker with people relying on you to stop, this will be all the more exacerbated as their disappointment and misery become apparent.
Don’t just let the thought of having a drink float there unattended: pin it down and be realistic, see the whole picture and not just part of it.
