Green eyes meet mine. Jesus, her eyes are the most beautiful shade of green I’ve ever seen.
“I don’t think you are.”
Colin gets ahold of my hand, interlaces his fingers with mine, and leads me upstairs.
“Give me two weeks, Reyes.” “Two weeks for what?” “To show you that life isn’t as bad as it may seem at the moment.” This can’t be happening right now, can it? “Give me two weeks to show you that there is more to live for, more to be alive for. Give me two weeks to make you fall back in love with life.”
I just want to try to bring a smile to her face.
I think Lily wants that, too—leave this life to start another one because she thinks what her current life has to offer is too much to take. If we go with that theory, then Lily is forgetting something. She wouldn’t have been put in this life, into her situation if the universe didn’t know she’d be able to take it.
So, if there’s a chance that I can be her light shining through the darkness, that I can be the yang to her yin, I have to try.
“How would I know that you don’t want to murder me?” “Well, if I did want to murder you, I don’t think you’d be mad at me. After all, you want to die, don’t you?”
Colin Have plans to marry my Lilybug instead. Can I bring her?
“Why the hell didn’t you just say so right away? No, instead you let me babble all about how you fucked your brother
I don’t like listening to what she says when it comes to spending time with her.
“I’ll most likely be dead by October eighth.” “Lilybug, you’re underestimating my power to make you fall in love with me first.”
I don’t plan on making Lily fall in love with me. Yet.
“Why do you always write ‘Dear whoever reads this’?” I ask. “You should change it to ‘Dear Colin Baby’”
Lily You’re so wrong, Lilybug. You will be alive. You will be happy again. I promise.
“Lilybug?” Colin’s soft voice streams through my ears. “Yeah?” “Tell me something about you you’ve never told anyone before.”
I even cut Aaron’s cuddle blankie in half.” Colin gasps. “No way, Lilybug. You can’t just do that. That’s some real trauma you caused him! No wonder Aaron is the way he is. You quite literally tortured him, ripped his heart right out of his chest at such a young age.”
“Thank you.” I make my way over to him. Colin opens his arms for me, allowing me in for a hug. I hate hugs. Or I did, until I find myself in Colin’s embrace.
“Do you guys watch your friends make out?” “Make out?” Miles laughs. “I have full-on sex tapes of these guys on my phone. I watch them every evening before going to sleep.”
Lily I’m not stepping on the ice. I chuckle. She’s so adorable, thinking I wouldn’t get her back on the ice eventually. Lucky for Lily, that’s not my plan for tonight.
Do I need to dress up? Colin Hm… Yes. Wear my jersey. Lily Nude, got it. Don’t forget protection. x
“Fuck you, man.” “I would, but I have your sister for that,” I shoot back.
“Don’t hide your smile. It’s too pretty to keep it hidden,” I whisper.
I grab Lily’s water bottle and take a few sips. She doesn’t seem to mind it—even if she did, I wouldn’t care.
I lean down just enough so I can kiss her cheek, but Lily has other plans. My lips are an inch away from her cheek when Lily turns her head. “What are—” Our lips meet.
It’s just Lily and me. Two friends kissing by accident. But then, why don’t I want to leave her lips? Why do I want to pull her closer, taste her on my tongue? Why do I want to feel her closer, kiss her harder, deeper?
I want her alive. I need her alive. I need her to breathe, to live. I need her to be here, with Aaron, with her family and friends. With me.
“What kind of sandwiches?” “I guess cream cheese with jelly. I loved it when I was little. It’s one of the only things I know how to make.” “Cream cheese with jelly?” I repeat, wanting to make sure I got that right. He nods. “Why?”
There’s no way that I’ll let Miles King get close to my girl.
“Jealous?” “Furious.”
“Miles is like a brother to me. I would share anything with him. Anything but you.”
“Stop what?” He doesn’t even acknowledge his hand squeezing mine. “Stop trying to get you to see a more colorful world? Stop trying to pretend that I don’t want to kiss you? Stop trying to ignore that I’m hard as a rock right now, only because I’m touching your hand?”
I promised to let my friends try the coffees so they wouldn’t go to waste, and much to our amusement, I didn’t tell any of them that I spat in most of them.
“Unbutton my pants and I will no longer keep up the nice guy. I’ll have to fuck you disrespectfully,” I warn. “You can’t even kiss me, Colin.”
I’ve got a taste of heaven.
Honestly, fuck it. One night won’t hurt, right?
You promised disrespect.” “Reyes, for fuck’s sake.” I stroke the pads of my thumbs over her nipples, feeling as they harden. “Fuck the disrespect. You’re too breathtaking.”
“I’m going to break you.” “Don’t flatter yourself, Fairy Godmother.”
“That’s right, sweetheart,” he praises. “You’re taking me so well.”
“Do I need to tell you how to take care of your body?” He looks at me with sincerity in his eyes. “Go pee.” “Not with you here.” I cross my arms over my chest. “You do remember the part where I had my mouth on your cunt, right? Doesn’t get any more intimate than that.” “Hm-hmm.”
“Colin, people will think I’m in a relationship. This can’t be happening,” I tell him. “Why not? You certainly are mine now.”
Even more than I like her mouth pressed on mine. Never mind. I love her lips more.
“And I have awesome plans. Like… annoy the hell out of him.” “How?” “Easy. I just fuck you in the kitchen.”
“Why do you call me Lilybug?” A small grin creeps up on his lips. “You know the meaning of ladybugs? Good fortune, true love, innocence… needing to make the right choices in life.”
She is mine. Even if she dies, she’s always going to be mine. I know this girl is special. She has a huge heart, loves with so much brightness. It’s so sad that she can’t see it. So I’ll be loving her. I’ll love her until her last breath, and even after that, I’ll continue to love her with every breath I take. Even if I have to breathe for the both of us.
Aaron makes his way upstairs, but I stop him, calling out his name. “What is it?” “Happy birthday.” “Fuck off. But thanks.”
I am happy, I think.
“Do you feel guilty?” Colin sits up. “Why would I feel guilty?” “Because you took my virginity and weren’t exactly gentle with me.” “Sweetheart, if I wanted vanilla sex, then I would’ve given you nothing but that. If you wanted it, you should’ve told me. And besides, you took it well. So, no, I don’t feel even one bit guilty.”
“Say my name.” I blink. “What?” “Say. My. Name.”
