But instead of responding to my question, he decided to bless me with a side of him I hadn’t experienced yet. His lips curved into a charming smirk I had no idea he possessed in his wheelhouse of expressions. Those dimples I had been missing peeked through; his eyes darkened and dripped with pure unadulterated lust.
“That’s the second time you’ve used my actual name and not my nickname like I asked.” “Then why are you smiling about it?” I asked after my back hit the front door, and he trapped me. “Because I think I like it better than Zeke.” “Zek—” He put his finger to my lips and shook his head. “Call me by my name, Jonae.”
His fingers lightly passed over my abdomen, and I whimpered. I wasn’t sure what it was, but whatever I’d done earned me a kiss so intense that my legs almost gave out on me. His hands gripped my waist, and mine went around his neck as our lips moved in perfect sync—both of us taking turns sucking on the other person’s bottom lip. Tongues tangling for control and then coming together in harmony.
“You can’t leave,” I said, feeling a spark of anxiety I’d never felt before. “Y-you can’t tell me something important like that and then just leave. It isn’t fair and…” I blinked and shook my head. “I only want…” I took a deep breath, trying to steady the beating of my heart. “Jonae, are you— “You can’t do that to me,” I cried, letting my tears fall, and my shoulders sag. “I don’t want you to leave, Zeke.”
“Okay, I won’t,” he said, his lips close to my ear. “But you have to breathe for me, Jo. Take deep breaths and try to calm down. I’m right here.”
