“Where’s this man been hiding?” I asked, biting down on my lip. “He’s been buried under trauma, hurt, and fear.”
“I hope you can swim,” he offered in return. “These are murky waters over here.”
I could swim, but I still wanted to drown in her. She did say it would be worthwhile.
“It’s okay if you ask more of me,” I whispered as my eyes drooped. “I want to give you everything, so ask me for anything.”
“He already loves you.” I let her words take root inside of my chest and then said, “I deserve that.” Simple.
“Get the fuck out of here,” Manny blurted. “There’s two of her.”
“How about you get yellow, and I get blue?” “Will they connect?” she asked, her eyes hopeful. “Only if you agree to be my girlfriend.”
