Of the five factors, only conscientiousness and neuroticism are statistically significant for predicting wages. A one-standard-deviation increase in conscientiousness is associated with a 7.2 percent wage boost, and a one-standard-deviation increase in neuroticism is associated with 3.6 percent lower wages (again, standard deviation is a measure of statistical variance; refer back to Chapter 4 or see Google for an explanation).
