Her name is all I can feel. But I can’t open my eyes. Everything inside of me pulls to a surface I can’t see, but I dig my heels in, fighting it like I’m holding myself down.
Suddenly, warmth fills my body as my eyes finally blink open. Sutton looks up at me, eyes so green, red hair blowing in the wind. She looks exactly how she did the day I first kissed her. I look around as she laces her hands through mine, bringing them to her lips, pressing kisses to the palms before she looks up at me. We’re in our field. My eyes drop to hers as the edges around us blur, and she smiles. “You’re here.” I cradle her face, bringing my lips to hers, feeling warmth on her lips, almost tasting the sun. “Not even in death, baby.”
