I hope your hair falls out one afternoon at a restaurant, I think. I hope your teeth leave your mouth and run around town biting people and you are blamed and sent to jail. I hope you move to a new house and your new house smells horrible. I hope you step on a rug and it wriggles beneath you and you fall to the ground and bruise something. I hope the rug turns out to be a wolf that was sleeping on the floor and the wolf is angry and hungry and strong.

Nowadays philosophers are hardly ever tortured, because most people ignore them completely, and it’s hard to say which is the worse fate for philosophy and the people who practice it, being tortured or being ignored.
