and felt wildly and uncontrollably homesick. He thought that maybe he’d always feel like that when he talked to his mother, but that maybe it would soften when this new place felt like more of a home. He used to think that he had left behind everything that was precious to him, but he had found other things that mattered and would keep on doing so.
