When civilizations emerge, their architects have always been, and always will be, the smartest beings in a vast sea of stupid. The growing pains of building a good civilization entail convincing the stupid that the actions of the smart are worthwhile, often an exercise in futility. After all, morons hinder progress (and for the record, no truer statement has ever been uttered). And since stupid breeds like coked-up rabbits, it often mounts a devastating opposition.
