Earlier on we discussed cognitive dissonance, or the tension and distress that emerges when you have inconsistencies between your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs on the one hand and your actions on the other. The discomfort that accompanies cognitive dissonance serves as an alert that you either need to change your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs to better reflect your actions, or you need to change your actions to better reflect your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs.
