I look to the light But a dark shape pursues me. Your shadow or mine?

Anthony Horowitz is always good. I've loved him since I found out he was the genius behind Foyle's War. However, this book had me starting to consider whether "genius" might be a little strong. The problem came in at the end (although I was wondering all through the book why his own character is such a wet noodle - is that still a thing? - when it came to Hawthorne). But the dénouement of this mystery really outdid dénouements everywhere in it's stunning absurdity. "No, that is not the killer!" I screamed at my Kindle. "Do you think we're stupid?" Nonetheless, looking back on the totality of the book, I'm willing to forgive Anthony. It probably seemed like a good idea at the time he wrote it. The rest of the plot is cohesive and gripping, so I can look past my disappointment at the ending.
