I’m going to look down and see a horrific bloody mess, something from a scary movie. Like Saw. The eighth sequel took place in Nikolai’s bed.
It’s strange how one person can see the hidden parts of you in a short amount of time that others don’t even understand in years.
Who can explain the drum of their heart or the burst of their lungs? Give me that person. I need them because words fail my senses.

I stare in awe of him, wondering how someone can fill me with so much more than I’ve ever been able to give myself. I was always my number one cheerleader. My number one fan. I think I’ve been replaced. “Where did you come from?” I ask what he asked me once.
“I’d help you every day so that you could see a better tomorrow. I will never give you less than that.”
I brought a Ken doll into a Polly Pocket house. I’m a Polly Pocket playing with a Ken doll.
“Whatever happens, just know that the parts of my life with you have been my favorite.”
“Don’t love me more than your dreams, myshka. Because I love you too much to let you give them up for me.”
I never thought saying I love you, out loud, for the first time would hurt so much. And strangely, I don’t want to take it back.
“That you deserved to be here from the start. That they made a mistake, that you and only you, Thora James, my little mouse…my demon—were meant for this role.”
“Joking,” he says. “I don’t even know what The Vampire Diaries is.” I scowl. “It’s a show, a great show.”
I know I belong in this world. It can be mine too.
“Here is my heart.” His thumb skims my neck. “It is full of love.”
I’m average. I’ve been average most of my life, but there are moments where I feel extraordinary. Invincible. Able to conquer any fear and step outside any box. There is no illusion, no fantasy. I can climb a forty-foot pole. I can fly eighty-feet in the air. I can be taller than tall. It’s a dream that I’m living. Every day. With him.
