“Sorry if that puts a damper on your plans to party up here on your own or whatever.”

put on Home Alone, and he laughed. “This would be the holiday movie you’d choose.” “What? It’s got Christmas.” “And a ridiculous child pulling pranks on thieves,” he said with an eye roll. “Not exactly warm holiday fuzzies.”
Dekaydreader
Or you could watch Scrooged, or better yet, my daughter's Christmas favorite, Beetlejuice... 😅

After Home Alone, he picked out A Christmas Carol.

“Don’t you mean DD, for designated driver?” “Nope,” he said as he pulled out his wallet. “DSS. Designated Sober Schmuck.”

ordered an open-faced roast beef sandwich with brown gravy served over a mound of mashed potatoes,
Dekaydreader
Unclear: is this a mound of mashed potatoes, with the open-faced sandwich and gravy stacked on, or it is mashed potatoes and gravy with the sandwich on the side? Either way, the bread sounds redundant and weird. Never understood an open-faced meat sandwich. Egg salad, yeah, but even then, it's easier to negotiate fillings between two slices of bread.

“He does love those no-bake cookies I make.”
Dekaydreader
I do so hope DJ is gonna give a recipe for these cookies... Rats. End of book, no recipe. So sad.

The Brookses took it in stride, considering Jonas and I had once been stepbrothers.
Dekaydreader
Why are you harping on this so? They are not blood related, and besides that, they're gay, and we're not in the alternate universe where men get men pregnant. It's not even like Quinn was adopted into Jonas's family as a small child, which might make it weird. The whole issue with incest is purely genetic, as it ups the possibility of birth defects. Just science, though I know some religious indoctrinates have the same opinion of science as an imaginary construct as I do of religion. To each their own, I guess, though most zealots don't believe in that idea any more than they believe in science.
