Brockett had a panic attack—which he thought was a heart attack—and was rushed to the hospital. He later called it his “come-to-Jesus moment,” when he realized he had spent six years writing rules that were now obsolete. “My fifty-two-year-old body had one of those moments when I saw a future where I wasn’t involved,” he says.
