When he’d first seen it, the lake had been simply a crime scene in his mind, but up here it took on something else entirely. It was a black mirror, the surface as glass and reflecting the stars above, though for a moment Harry felt as though he was looking down through a window, a hole or a portal perhaps, and into another place completely.

That’s why they do attempted contact with the paranormal in front of a mirror & candlelight, also a bowl of water can be used. Not something I’d do, you don’t know what you’d really be talking with, and if we thunk there’s a lot of evil in this world?… we ain’t seen nothing yet. I also won’t look into mirrors in the dark. It may all be silly superstitions, but my pov, don’t mess with something you don’t understand.

‘Shouldn’t we wait for the CSI team?’ ‘I’ve waited long enough,’ Harry growled back.

Why can I sense a pissed off CSI investigator? At the least, and why do I think this us precisely the attitude that got him into trouble in the first place….

They just didn’t strike him as the dogging type.

A white tent was erected over the body and the pathologist had got to work, wearing a white paper suit of personal protective equipment, or PPE, like the rest of the CSI team. Harry had always thought that this gave them a ghoulish air, white ghosts stalking the place where a death had occurred.

It’s white for a point, so any trace evidence will show up if they accidentally get it on them

Harry was quickly moving from disliking Rebecca Sowerby to hoping he’d at some point in his life have a chance to feed her to a bear.

What I do know, is when people feel the need to explain something they know looks wrong, there’s usually a reason for it

Very very telling, she booted him out of the bedroom? Or did he go by himself? My Mum did that, booted my Dad out I mean, so wrong!

Again telling, either way of course, although he may of removed himself it’s telling having the expression unless he’s purposefully doing it

You know what makes great sarcastic humor is it being just what you’d expect people to say irl, no overdoing things, which is why I’m liking this.

From my point of view, being a bit older than Sophie, ok ok, a lot older (but not too much!) and having things I would like to ask my Mum, but never will, you see the edge of a cliff you can’t back away from if you open your bloody trap, so you keep it close. All joking aside, that IS how I feel about a few things I’ll never have the courage to ask her. I guess we never grow up about the fear of upsetting our parents.

Yes! I was hoping for common sense & the book delivered. I dislike books where the characters go off on a tangent when it’s obvious to the readers it’s the wrong thing to do.
