Some people who worked in the prison system were good, but it was a system, and systems want to run smoothly more than anything else. Vivi had consistently chosen patient care over smooth.
Finn wouldn’t look down on anybody else for being jobless. Nobody’s worth was defined by their employment status.
Finn hadn’t known she liked pink so much until Vivi showed up in her life.
In her new life, she wondered how the ever-loving heck people without a Hollis were supposed to avoid lives of crime after serving time.
She definitely spent plenty of time these days reflecting on how some combination of mental health treatment, substance abuse treatment, protection from an abuser, or a job paying a living wage would have likely kept the vast majority of Finn’s fellow prisoners from ending up there. Instead of helping them, society locked them up.
Going out to kick a bunch of politically active conservative evangelical Christians in the shins at this early hour wasn’t practical, and wouldn’t fix anything anyway. Probably.
