Dangling beneath, at a precarious angle, was a sign that read ‘The Stranger Times’. Scrawled below that were the words ‘This is no longer a church. Please go bother God somewhere else.’
For the first time in her life, she had a job. And if that job consisted of publishing nonsense, then she was going to be the best damn publisher of nonsense she could be.
‘I made you a cuppa, and look – custard creams. I keep some in reserve for, ehm … special occasions.’ ‘I don’t think I’ll ever be able to drink tea again.’ Grace looked horrified. Her world view was based on the core principle that a good cup of tea or the good Lord Jesus could fix all problems.
In short, don’t question the magic.’
