‘Oh no, I … Well, a bit … Actually, ehm, are you aware there’s a man trying to jump off your building?’ Grace didn’t even look up. ‘Well, it is Monday.’
‘Leave me alone, you beast. That gun probably isn’t even loaded.’ ‘Really? I’m an alcoholic with nothing to live for. You seriously think I’d have a gun and not keep it loaded?’
‘Now, if that will be all, it’s nearly lunchtime and I have yet to drink my breakfast. I can’t face the afternoon editorial meeting sober.’
