Mensah and Indah just stepped behind a large plant biome with giant paddle-shaped leaves

I stopped outside the entrance, near a seating area with chairs and tables, surrounded by large round plant biomes that were partly decorative and partly an information exhibit about what not to touch if you went to the planet’s surface.

Not sure the author is using the correct word here, especially in the first instance, where she describes the "biome" as having "paddle- shaped leaves". Pretty sure one potted plant does not a biome make.
