Never heard of it before, very interesting. As a footnote they’re not rare in NZ and I was bitten by one when I was little

I don’t know s out overseas, but orthopaedic theatres in NZ use a pair of bolt cutters for cutting ribs, at least where I worked and it was a major hospital.

Sounds like a Gigli saw, old fashioned but still used today when they want precision

I’m female, and I do have a Mum, who once made the charming comment when she wanted to stay at her retirement village & do Christmas there, although admittedly she helps arrange everything food included, but the comments the catcher “I want to stay up here and do Christmas with them there’s people here who gave no one to spend Christmas with and will be all alone”. So she leaves me all alone, not even a phone call, it’s February and I’m still peeved.

Really over stretching the term bespoke, while yes, technically they would be, it’s really more for over priced custom made items versus just any old thing, to me anyway.

I really love the fact that while reading these books I’m actually having to Google & look up stuff way more than usual, and I usually do it a lot anyways. Learning & reading just makes it more fun, and the author really finds some real doozies to educate myself about.

Ones we have here are metal with a ridged pattern on them. Very light & sent for professional decontamination after each use, then kept in a sterile wrap until the next time. Shows how bad our world is that we even have to have things like this .

Me too! I have one little female blackbird that either appears on my doorstep, or literally flies to me and lands on the railing by my door, about 6 times a day, which was cute enough, then her family saw where she was getting the food from, they’re older, less friendly but still want the food, pears, guava, bananas, apples, if it’s fruit they’ll take it, for the most part.

Just made me realize, that so many government & corporations rely on using abbreviations, this page shows it, so did my work at the hospital, from CSSD (central sterile supplies department) to ED or ER which I think most people know, onto places like ICU, SCBU, XRay, etc etc etc, it’s absolutely perfectly common.

See the same thing here and it’s funny seeing birds the size of a tbsp (another abbreviation got you) fighting each other like little winged gladiators.

Not unusual anymore, the new CSSD at work was fully fitted to allow negative air between he decontam side and the sterile side as well as where you enter and leave the area as a whole & included in the ‘dirty’ side was a pull cord shower in the middle of the room incase of any accident involving fluids etc

Stryker is a brand not an actual saw, the saw itself would be something like reciprocating, Saggital, oscillating etc etc

Pretty much the same thing as a Gigli saw, wire attached to 2 small handles, not as common as it used to be, but still in use.

I do that, but not to have the last word as much as I don’t want to look like I didn’t reply and I never know where the polite cut off point should be, and I’ll often end one of my emails a”no need to reply, just wanted to say thank you” or similar and hope that’s it because as soon as someone sends back a polite thank you themselves we’re right back at square one
