As if she knows I’m thinking about her, the noise picks up again. The wooden headboard pounds against the wall upstairs, creating an eerie echo in this huge empty house.
its only the second page, but here's my thoughts/predictions (also using the tiny bits of information my friends have hinted at). at first i thought, she's a ghost. he killed her upstairs and now she's haunting the house. but then my other prediction was, he didn't kill her, but somehow his actions inadvertently lead to her death (such as not picking up the phone when she needed his help) and now he feels guilty and feeling like he is actually killing her. safe to say i am intriged.
