We’d needed to break them. It had to be done. So why does it make me feel like a piece of shit?
“Well if this is what it takes to keep our positions then maybe I don’t like being a part of it,” I countered. As soon as the words left my lips I wished they hadn’t.
Though I for one hoped they docked Ignis a thousand points for my absence and the shock of it gave Darius an aneurism.
“Is that what you were doing? Because it looked very much like you destroyed my office door, wrecked a custom-made desk and then transported us to the top of Aer Tower and threw me off the top of it, Miss Vega.”
“That you give up your place at Zodiac Academy. That you weren't strong enough to stay. That you are not Fae.”
I think you know me better as the 'bourbon drinking Professor with a permanent scowl stamped on his face and a general air of failed dreams about him.' Check out the book, Blue. You'll find it educational. P.S Delete these messages immediately.
“Is everything alright, Francesca?” Orion asked, his voice velvet smooth. They’re definitely screwing each other. And I definitely don’t care.
“I don't like the look of the fire in your eyes, babe,” he growled. “Didn't I break you well enough?” I stepped further into his personal space, my heart racing and my shoulders trembling. “Iron is made stronger in the hottest part of the fire, Seth. You didn't break me, you forged me.”
Thankfully we’d managed to resist the temptation to spoon each other. And we hadn’t spoken about it since.
against the urge to pull him closer, to run my hands over his hair - I clenched my teeth. This bond is so screwed up in so many ways.
“Can you not talk for a few minutes?” I asked. “Why?” “Because if you shut up, then I can try and focus on your looks and forget about the personality that goes with them,”
I reached out, my hand landing on the firm line of his hip as I tried to steady myself. My touch ignited a flare of lust in him which washed into me again and lit a fire of excitement in my veins.
The most rational reason for him holding onto me was that he was about to bite me. He'd saved me from facing an Heir so I guessed I owed him. The other reason though...oh holy shit the other reason...
My instincts told me he wanted me, but that was pure insanity.
So he must have had some other reason to follow me. While I walked alone. In the dark. At night.
“If you touch me I'll blast every ounce of energy I have at you,” I whispered, my voice lost to fear. Please don't touch me, I don't have much power left. His brows knitted sharply together. “I'm only joking, Darcy.” He surveyed my expression and took a step back, his features skewing.
Will the ends still be blue?
“Because you’re a Libra,” I said. “And you’ve got matching best friends forever tattoos, I just thought it was a bit strange.”
“I’d think long and hard about trying to pull any more secrets from my lips,” I hissed. “Because some of the ones I’m keeping aren’t my own.”
“Of course I did, he was being a dick. And I’m not going to give him details of my sex life to jerk off over.” “You’re a straight up badass Tory,”
“Being forced out of my bed in the middle of the night to spend time with one of my least favourite people? I’ve had better evenings,” I said dryly.
“Neither of you really stood out so it's hard to say.” Caleb pushed his tongue into his cheek as he tried to stop me from baiting him. “Maybe you need a reminder then?”
“You’re killing me, you know that right?” he called after me.
“I’m sure you can find a nice Pegasus girl to help you work through some of that frustration,”
“Don’t stop dancing on my account,” Darius urged,
“It suits you,” he said. “What does?” I asked. “Smiling.”
so I’m guessing you aren’t actually allowed to kill me.”
“And I’ll promise to be... nice to you,” he added, reading my silence as hesitation instead of surprise. “For that night only.”
“I’ll have dresses sent over for you.”
“I helped myself. I can read a library book, Seth. It's not rocket science.”
You always did give him the fuck-me eyes.
I'd spend the rest of the afternoon vomiting if anyone gave me details about your sex life. But you seem awfully interested in mine.”
“Orion wouldn't lay a hand on the daughter of The Savage King. He's got more class than that.”
When he wasn't directing his harsh tone at me, it was super hot.
You just have to find the right buttons to push, Blue.” He lowered his voice to a secret whisper, leaning in close. “Or is it Green?”
Am I going to have my hands full with you or are you running low?” “Oh I’m always a handful,” I said
Damn super-hot asshole. He knows exactly what he’s doing.
Can you ride one of those?” Darius asked curiously as he looked over my shoulder at my work.
“You need to work on your focus, Roxy,” Darius teased,
“Then stop looking back, Lance.”
Oh my god, I'm going to have to stay here while this orgy plays out.
“I have to protect the weakest in the pack until they find their place,” he said in a low voice. “That's why I healed you today. You have to find your position so I can stop feeling like this.”
“You’re not wearing the dress I sent you.” “This might be a good time for you to realise, I don’t tend to do as I’m told,” I said dismissively.
“Oh is it a secret? I thought everyone knew he was your Guardian and you’ve got that little soul bond thing going on.” “Who told you that?” Darius demanded, his voice dropping an octave. “You just did.”
“I think I'll get my drinks from a less shady room thanks,” I said, shaking my head. “Yeah, I'm gonna decline the date rape.” Tory smiled hollowly and Darius scoffed. “As if I'd need to drug you to get you in my bed,” Darius smirked. “Keep dreaming, Dragon boy.”
“Mildred's out there,” Caleb spoke to Darius. “Looks like she came dressed as Cinderella's pumpkin carriage.” Darius's shoulders stiffened and he swiped up another drink. “Fuck my life.”
“I thought we were being nice this evening?” Darius murmured behind me and I stifled a flinch at just how close he was. “You said you’d be nice. I made no such promises,”
“Well I think I’m talking to an oversized iguana with a superiority complex, wrapped in an expensive suit. But its hard be sure beneath all the bullshit,” I snarled.
