It was well-known that the muscles of a werewolf gave you unparalleled strength. The hands of a faerie lent you their magic. The lungs of a nymph brought the ability to breathe underwater. The heart of my kind would eliminate all the eater’s fears.
“What is your name?” the stranger asked. I realized I’d been staring. His voice was crisp and unhurried, like a dead leaf falling from a tree. “Fuck,” I answered, hiding my embarrassment. “Would you like to guess my last name? I’ll give you a hint. It rhymes with ‘shoe’.”
Fortuna, never make a promise that you can’t keep. Nightmares may be lies, but we don’t have to be liars.
“Do you get punched a lot? You seem like the kind of faerie who gets punched a lot.”

it had been painfully clear that I needed to know what the fae were capable of. Going off myths and lore had already cost me. So I started at the beginning and resolved to read every word.
Smart. She knew her weakness was her lack of knowledge and the false truths she believed. She decided to do something about this gap, this deficit. She took it upon herself to educate herself. There is strength in knowledge. If you are not as strong, then be smarter.
He was someone with a cause and nothing would pull him away from it. Too often, though, someone with a cause lost sight of themselves. The lines between right and wrong blurred. Passion became fanaticism.
